The AKK free medical outreach attended to citizens from the axis of Iseyin zone; Kajola, Itesiwaju and Iwajowa yesterday, 13th December 2024.

It featured, free physiotherapy, free consultation, free medications and free test.

I sincerely appreciate all the AKK Oyo North senatorial local Government coordinators and their Senatorial leader, Chief Amb Dr. AJAGBE politically known as Hon ONIRESE for initiating the programme.

I am deeply grateful to all individuals of goodwill who’ve contributed to our progress.

This free AKK health awareness programme would be extended across the remaining two senatorial districts (Oyo Central and Oyo South) immediately after the official launching of their leaders.

Africa, the cradle of humanity, continues to grapple with significant healthcare challenges which undermines the well-being of its burgeoning population.

Despite incremental progress, the continent’s healthcare sector remains plagued by stark realities.

According to the World Health Organisation (WHO), Africa accounts for 25% of the global disease burden, yet it is home to merely 3% of the world’s healthcare workforce.

The statistics are dire: every year, approximately 800,000 African children under the age of five succumb to preventable diseases, while maternal mortality rates remain alarmingly high, with 462 deaths per 100,000 live births.

To revitalise Nigeria’s healthcare constituency necessitates many approaches, among which involves harnessing innovation, partnerships, and community engagement.

We must leverage digital technologies, such as telemedicine and mobile health applications to enhance access to healthcare services, particularly in remote and underserved areas.

Strategic partnerships between governments, private sector entities, and civil society organisations can also mobilise resources, expertise, and funding to bolster healthcare systems.

Besides, if we empower and support communities through health education and promoting participatory approaches, we can advance a culture of health ownership and encourage individuals to demand better healthcare services.

Details information regarding AKK Free Health Initiative would be discussed in my coming article titled “AKK House Initiative is poised to revolutionise healthcare delivery in Oyo State”.
