The Chief Whip of the Oyo State House of Assembly, representing Atiba State Constituency, Hon. Gbenga Joseph Oyekola, has commended the Executive Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde, for approving the appointment of new teachers under the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) and Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM).
In a statement released to newsmen on Tuesday, Hon. Oyekola praised the governor’s commitment to enhancing the quality of education in Oyo State.
Oyekola, a two-term lawmaker who is also Chairman of the House Committee on Environment, ecology and Water Resources, Chairman of Ethics and Privileges, Vice Chairman of Finance, appropriation and Budget, and Vice Chairman of Public Account, stated that the appointment of new teachers is a significant step towards achieving UNESCO standards.
The Chief Whip acknowledged the governor’s dedication to ensuring that students receive the best possible education and expressed gratitude for his efforts in improving the education sector.
According to him, “Your Excellency, Sir, you are the real hope not only for Oyo State but for Nigeria.
I am highly elated that this current teacher appointment is the best so far. It has placed you as a beacon of light for the Pacesetter State and the nation as a whole.
Without mincing words, your transparency in the appointment process reflects across all strata of society, reducing poverty and unemployment rates and stabilizing the economy.”
He further stated that the appointment of new teachers is expected to address the shortage of teachers in public schools, thereby improving the overall learning experience for students.
“Governor Makinde’s administration has been working hard to revitalize the education sector, and this latest development is a testament to his commitment to the betterment of Oyo State’s education system,” he said.
Oyekola urged the new teachers to be dedicated and passionate about their work and to contribute their quota towards shaping the future of Oyo State’s children.
He also assured the governor of the assembly’s support in ensuring the success of his education initiatives.
