She particularly commended President Tinubu for demonstrating what she described as “political courage and determination in undertaking difficult but necessary reforms.”

According to her, the administration deserves recognition for pursuing reforms across several critical sectors while seeking to address longstanding structural challenges confronting the Nigerian economy.

Busari Svensson highlighted five major areas in which she said the Tinubu administration has made significant interventions:

  1. ECONOMIC REFORMS

She commended the President for taking bold steps to restructure Nigeria’s economic and fiscal framework, saying the reforms are intended to create a more sustainable economy, attract investment and strengthen the country’s capacity for long-term development.

While acknowledging that economic reforms can create difficult adjustments for citizens in the short term, she said the focus must remain on ensuring that the benefits of reform ultimately reach ordinary Nigerians.

  1. EDUCATION AND STUDENT LOANS

Busari Svensson also praised the administration’s expansion of student financing through the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND).

She described increased access to education financing as an important investment in Nigeria’s young population, saying that no talented Nigerian should be denied the opportunity to pursue higher education or acquire relevant skills simply because of financial circumstances.

  1. AGRICULTURE AND FOOD SECURITY

As a farmer herself, Busari Svensson placed particular emphasis on agriculture.

She commended the administration’s focus on agricultural production, mechanisation, food security, irrigation, improved inputs and agro-processing.

According to her, strengthening agriculture is critical not only to feeding Nigeria’s growing population but also to creating employment, increasing farmers’ incomes and developing rural communities.

She urged the government to sustain its support for farmers and ensure that agricultural interventions reach grassroots producers.

  1. INFRASTRUCTURE AND TRANSPORTATION

Busari Svensson further commended the Federal Government’s investments in roads, rail and transportation infrastructure.

She said improved infrastructure remains essential to economic growth because efficient transportation reduces the cost of moving people, agricultural produce and goods across the country.

She noted that completing major infrastructure projects and ensuring their proper maintenance would further strengthen economic connectivity and national development.

  1. ENERGY AND INDUSTRIAL DEVELOPMENT

She also applauded ongoing efforts to strengthen Nigeria’s energy sector, expand domestic production and create an environment capable of supporting industrial growth and investment.

According to her, reliable energy is fundamental to the survival and expansion of businesses, particularly small and medium-sized enterprises that provide livelihoods for millions of Nigerians.

Busari Svensson said President Tinubu deserves commendation for confronting difficult structural issues rather than postponing them indefinitely.

“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu deserves commendation for the courage to undertake reforms aimed at repositioning Nigeria.

The road to economic transformation is not always easy, but leadership requires the courage to make difficult decisions and the commitment to ensure that those decisions ultimately improve the lives of citizens.”

She added that the administration’s efforts should be matched by continued attention to the welfare of ordinary Nigerians.

“The work is not finished, but we must acknowledge progress where it is being made.

We must also encourage the administration to do more, particularly in areas that directly affect the daily lives of Nigerians.”

As Nigeria celebrates 66 years of independence, Busari Svensson urged Nigerians to remain hopeful and patriotic while contributing positively to national development.

She called for greater unity, peace, responsible citizenship and constructive engagement with government at all levels.

“Nigeria’s greatest asset is its people,” she said, adding that the nation’s youthful population, entrepreneurial spirit, agricultural potential, natural resources and human capital provide a strong foundation for a prosperous future.

She also urged Nigerians to look towards 2027 and beyond with a spirit of hope, saying that the country’s development should remain a shared national responsibility.

Busari Svensson said Nigeria’s 66th Independence Anniversary should remind citizens that the Nigerian story is still being written.

“We have every reason to celebrate Nigeria. We have faced difficult moments, but we have continued to rise. We have challenges, but we also have enormous opportunities.

What Nigeria needs now is unity of purpose, responsible leadership, productive citizens and a sustained commitment to national development.”

She expressed optimism that with sustained reforms, greater accountability, investment in human capital and continued support for productive sectors, Nigeria can build an economy where every citizen has a meaningful opportunity to thrive.

She therefore congratulated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, members of the Federal Executive Council, state governments and Nigerians across the country on the 66th Independence Anniversary.

“May Nigeria continue to grow in peace, strength, unity and prosperity.

May our farmers prosper. May our young people find opportunity.

May our businesses flourish.
May our families live with dignity.
May our nation fulfil its enormous potential.” She submitted.
