The Executive Chairman of Ibarapa Central Local Government, Hon. Olusola Adeleke Ayodele has intensified efforts to revive the Igboora Stadium,Oke Ayin,Isale oba Igboora, seeking the support and intervention of the Oyo State Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Hon. Wasilat Adegoke, towards restoring the facility for sporting activities.

The commissioner for youth and sports Hon. Adegoke wasilat, who inspected the stadium expressed delight at the renewed interest in the facility and commended the Executive Chairman for his commitment to sports development and youth engagement across Ibarapa Central.

The Commissioner, Hon wasilat Adegoke was particularly impressed by the large turnout of footballers, coaches and sports enthusiasts who came out to welcome her, describing their enthusiasm as a clear indication of the importance of the stadium to the sporting community and the potential it holds for young talents in the area.

She assured the Chairman that she would support the process and facilitate the necessary steps towards the usage facility to Ibarapa Central Local Government, expressing optimism that through collaboration between the State Government and the Local Government, meaningful progress would soon be recorded.

Speaking during the inspection, Hon. Adeleke explained that the administration’s interest in the stadium is driven by the desire to create more opportunities for young people to discover, develop and showcase their sporting talents.

He disclosed that, once the facility becomes fully available for use, the Local Government plans to commence football competitions and other sporting activities that will provide a platform for young talents and sports lovers across Ibarapa Central.

 

The Chairman noted that sports are not merely recreational activities but powerful tools for youth development, talent discovery, discipline, community integration, and positive engagement.

Also speaking, members of the Ibarapa Central Coaches Association commended the initiative, describing it as a welcome development after the stadium had remained largely abandoned for several years. They expressed appreciation to Hon. Adeleke for taking steps to revive the facility and appealed for continued collaboration among the Local Government, State Government, sports stakeholders, and the community to return to Igboora Stadium to active sporting use.

The inspection marked another step in the administration’s effort to expand opportunities for young people, while giving renewed hope to footballers and sports enthusiasts who have long desired a functional sporting facility in Ibarapa Central.
