The Bimadek Solidarity Movement (BSM), a political movement established in support of the gubernatorial ambition of the Allied Peoples’ Movement (APM) candidate in Oyo State, Hon. Abimbola Adekanmbi, has expressed profound sorrow over the passing of the Abese Olubadan of Ibadanland and Acting Chairman of the Lagelu Traditional Council, Oloye Lekan Alabi.

In a statement issued on behalf of the movement by its Chairman, Hon. Olukunle Mathew Oluwafemi, BSM described the late elder statesman as an exceptional patriot, accomplished journalist, celebrated author, cultural ambassador, and bridge-builder whose lifetime of service left an enduring imprint on Ibadanland, Oyo State, and Nigeria.

Hon. Oluwafemi said the demise of Oloye Alabi marks the end of an era, noting that the late Abese was one of the few personalities who successfully combined excellence in journalism, public relations, historical documentation, and traditional leadership while remaining a dependable voice of wisdom and integrity.

According to him, Oloye Lekan Alabi dedicated his life to promoting the history, culture, and values of Ibadanland, earning admiration across generations through his intellectual contributions and unwavering commitment to truth, justice, and community development.

“The news of the passing of Oloye Lekan Alabi came to us as a painful shock. Ibadanland has lost one of its finest ambassadors, a man whose wealth of knowledge, humility, and commitment to preserving our history made him an invaluable asset to our people.

His contributions to journalism, public enlightenment, and the traditional institution will remain evergreen.”

The BSM Chairman further noted that beyond his remarkable professional accomplishments, the late Acting Chairman of the Lagelu Traditional Council served as a stabilising force within the traditional institution, offering wise counsel and exemplary leadership whenever called upon.

He added that Oloye Alabi’s legacy would continue to inspire future generations to embrace selfless service, patriotism, and dedication to cultural preservation.

On behalf of the entire Bimadek Solidarity Movement and supporters of Hon. Abimbola Adekanmbi across Oyo State, Hon. Oluwafemi extended heartfelt condolences to the immediate family of the deceased, the Olubadan of Ibadanland and members of the Olubadan-in-Council, the people of Ibadanland, the traditional institution, and the government and people of Oyo State.

He prayed that Almighty God grants the departed elder statesman eternal rest and comforts everyone affected by the painful loss, while urging all lovers of Ibadan’s rich heritage to sustain the ideals of excellence, integrity, and service that Oloye Lekan Alabi stood for throughout his remarkable lifetime.
