Ahead of the 2027 general elections, the Deputy Governorship candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement, APM, in Oyo State, Engr. Open Salawu, has successfully reconciled the Chairman of Ogooluwa Local Government Area, Hon. Ojo Oluwaseun Adesoye, and the member representing Ogooluwa/Surulere State Constituency, Hon. Ogundare Abideen Adeoye.
The high-level reconciliation meeting, facilitated by the APM Deputy Governorship candidate, was held on Thursday at the local government secretariat in Ogooluwa.
It marked a turning point for the party in the local government as the two leaders, who had been at loggerheads for several years, resolved to set aside their differences in the interest of party unity and electoral success ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
The meeting was attended by all party leaders, elders, and key stakeholders across Ogooluwa Local Government.
During extensive deliberations, all contentious issues that had hindered cooperation between the executive and legislative arms in the area were addressed and amicably resolved.
Both Hon. Adesoye and Hon. Adeoye expressed regret over the past disagreements and pledged their commitment to work together to reposition APM for victory.
They also agreed to immediately convene the first joint stakeholders’ meeting of the party since the last congress to harmonize structures and mobilize members at the grassroots.
Speaking after the resolution, Engr. Open Salawu commended both leaders for their maturity and statesmanship in prioritizing the collective interest of the party over personal differences.
He stressed that unity and cohesion are critical for the party to make significant gains in 2027.
“Today marks a new beginning for APM in Ogooluwa. What we need now is not division, but unity of purpose. Our focus must be on how to win elections, strengthen our grassroots structures, and deliver good governance to the people of Oyo State. I am confident that with this renewed understanding, APM will record a landslide victory in Ogooluwa and across the state,” Salawu said.
Party leaders and elders present, including Hon, Simon Oyeleke, however described the intervention as timely and historic.
They expressed optimism that the renewed harmony would translate into stronger grassroots mobilization, increased membership drive, and improved electoral fortunes for APM in Ogooluwa and the entire Ogbomoso zone
They further reaffirmed their loyalty to the leadership of the party in Oyo State and pledged to work collectively to ensure that APM emerges victorious in the 2027 general elections.
