The Supervisory Councillor for Youths in Ibadan Northwest Local Government, Hon. Wale Oyewo, has formally declared his intention to contest for the position of Chairman of Ibadan Northwest Local Government under the platform of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM).
The declaration, held before party leaders and stakeholders in Ibadan Northwest, marked the official unveiling of his ambition ahead of the forthcoming local government elections.

Speaking during the meeting, Oyewo described his aspiration as a call to deepen grassroots governance through inclusive leadership, infrastructural development, youth empowerment and community-focused service delivery.
He said his decision to seek the chairmanship was inspired by the need to consolidate on developmental initiatives at the grassroots while promoting unity within the APM family.
Oyewo highlighted some of his achievements as Supervisory Councillor for Youth and Sports, noting that he facilitated the installation of solar-powered street lights across parts of Ward 06 to improve security and enhance economic activities within the communities.
He also disclosed that he championed the rehabilitation of a bridge linking several communities, easing transportation and improving access for residents.

According to him, he facilitated the partnership of a Germany-based non-governmental organisation (NGO), which provided cash support and empowerment materials to party faithful and members of the community as part of efforts to improve livelihoods.
He further listed the facilitation of transformer repairs in affected communities to restore electricity, the resuscitation of abandoned boreholes to improve access to potable water, and the rehabilitation of drainage systems to address flooding and improve environmental sanitation.
Oyewo assured party leaders that, if elected Chairman, his administration would prioritise people-oriented projects, transparency, youth engagement, and equitable development across all wards of Ibadan Northwest Local Government.
The declaration was attended by prominent leaders of the party, including the Chairman of Ibadan Northwest Local Government Council, Alhaji Rahmon Adepoju; APM State Deputy Chairman, Alhaji Wasiu Adeleke; Deputy Chairman of APM in Oyo State Alhaji Abdulganiy Omotosho Vice Chairman Ibadan Northwest LG; Hon. Fantola; Hon. Kola Anibire; Hon. Labule Ishola; Hon. Femi Josiah; Hon. Tallest, as well as other party leaders and stakeholders.
The leaders commended Oyewo for formally consulting with the party leadership and encouraged members to remain united and committed to strengthening the APM ahead of the council election.
The declaration is expected to further shape political consultations within the APM as preparations intensify for the forthcoming local government polls in Oyo State.
