The Chief Whip of the Oyo State House of Assembly and member representing Atiba State Constituency, Hon. Gbenga Joseph Oyekola, has commended Governor Seyi Makinde for approving the construction of the 4-kilometre Idi-Igba-Akinmorin Road in Oyo State, describing the project as another demonstration of the administration’s commitment to infrastructure development and grassroots transformation.

Oyekola gave the commendation following the approval of the road project at the Oyo State Executive Council meeting held on Wednesday.










 




The State Executive Council approved the construction of the 4-kilometre Idi-Igba-Akinmorin Road in Ilora at a cost of ₦2.9 billion, noting that the project is expected to stimulate socio-economic activities, improve connectivity and accelerate development within the benefiting communities.

Reacting to the development, the lawmaker expressed appreciation to Governor Makinde for prioritising critical road infrastructure, saying the project would improve transportation, enhance commercial activities and positively impact the livelihoods of residents.

While applauding the governor’s continued investment in infrastructure across the state, Oyekola appealed to the state government to also approve and commence the reconstruction of the Atiba Inner Road Network.

According to him, the Atiba Inner Road remains a strategic road network linking several communities within the local government area, adding that its rehabilitation would ease movement, boost economic activities and improve access to social and commercial centres.

 

The Chief Whip expressed confidence that the Makinde administration would give favourable consideration to the request in line with its commitment to equitable development across all parts of Oyo State.

He reaffirmed his support for the governor’s developmental agenda and pledged his continued collaboration with the executive arm to facilitate projects that would improve the welfare and living standards of the people of Atiba State Constituency.
