…Delegation from all zones backs APM governorship candidate, pledges support for Omituntun 3.0 and continuity of good governance.

In what is being described as one of the biggest endorsements by market stakeholders ahead of the 2027 governorship election in Oyo State, the governorship candidate of the Allied Peoples’ Movement (APM), Hon. Abimbola (Bimbo) Adekanmbi, has received the backing of market leaders, traders and artisans from across the state.

The delegation, led by renowned market stakeholder Princess Afolashade Abeo Nurudeen, comprised representatives from all geopolitical zones of Oyo State, including major Iyalojas, Babalojas, market secretaries and leaders of recognised market associations, who formally declared their support for the APM standard-bearer.

The high-powered delegation featured prominent market leaders, including Chief Mrs. Iswat Ameringun, Iyaloja of Ibadan; Chief Mrs. Zainab Oluwatoyin Zainab, Iyaloja of Ibadan South-East, alongside other Iyalojas from across Ibadan.

Also present were the President of the Amalgamation of Traders and Artisans Association of Oyo Land, Alhaji Ademola Romoke; President of the Oyogbemi Association of Oyo Land and Chairman of the Market Conflicts and Resolution Committee, Alhaji Okediji Bolaji Efo; as well as Iyalojas and market leaders from various parts of Oyo State.

Among the notable leaders were Alhaja Risikat Aderogba Yaya (Saki), Alhaja Doyin Raji (Iseyin), representing the Oke-Ogun Amalgamation of Traders and Artisans; Alhaji Munirudeen Tunde Fowewe (Irepo/Kishi); Mrs. Ajibola Eunice (Igboho); Alhaji Aderibigbe Tijjani Ismail (Ona-Ara); Alhaji Raji Abduljeleel; Mr. Ibrahim Rahaman (Ibarapa); Chief (Dr.) Isaiah Oladejo (JP) (Ogbomosho); Alhaji Wasiu Alaka (Ogbomosho); and Mr. Temitope Adeniji (Ogbomosho), among several other market stakeholders from across the state.

Addressing journalists after the visit, Princess Nurudeen said the endorsement represented the collective decision of market stakeholders who believe Oyo State deserves continuity in people-centred governance.

“Our endorsement is not for personal gain or political patronage. We are supporting Hon. Bimbo Adekanmbi because we believe he has the capacity to sustain good governance, promote equity, strengthen democracy and run an all-inclusive administration that will benefit every citizen of Oyo State,” she said.

She noted that the achievements of Governor Seyi Makinde in infrastructure, governance and citizens’ welfare inspired the delegation’s decision to support Adekanmbi as the candidate capable of advancing the state’s development agenda.

Responding to the endorsement, Hon. Adekanmbi described the massive turnout as a clear demonstration of the confidence reposed in his candidacy and the APM’s vision for Oyo State.

“I am deeply honoured by this overwhelming show of confidence. This is more than an endorsement; it is a call to greater service. I am on a mission to build an all-inclusive government under our continuity agenda, Omituntun 3.0, where every voice matters and every citizen has a sense of belonging,” Adekanmbi said.

The APM governorship candidate assured the delegation that his administration would remain accessible to all stakeholders.

“My doors will always remain open, and my ears will always be ready to listen. Together, we will build a more prosperous, peaceful and inclusive Oyo State.”

The meeting ended with the market leaders reaffirming their commitment to mobilising traders and artisans across the state in support of the APM, while both the delegation and Hon. Adekanmbi paid glowing tribute to Governor Seyi Makinde for his leadership and developmental strides.

The endorsement by the influential coalition of market leaders, traders and artisans from Ibadan, Oyo, Oke-Ogun, Ibarapa and Ogbomosho zones represents a significant boost to Adekanmbi’s campaign, further strengthening his message of continuity, inclusive governance and sustainable development ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
