The Allied Peoples Movement (APM) has continued to strengthen its political presence in Oyo State as Hon. Akinsete Olakunle emerged as the party’s candidate for the Oyo State House of Assembly, Ibadan South West Constituency II, ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The primary election, which took place at UMC Molete in Ibadan South West Local Government Area, witnessed the presence of party leaders, delegates, stakeholders, youths, women groups and loyal supporters from different wards within the constituency.
The exercise monitored by the electoral regulatory body INEC, party officials and delegates was widely described by party faithfuls and observers as peaceful, transparent, credible and well-coordinated, further reflecting the growing unity, maturity and internal democracy within the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) in Oyo State.
Following the announcement of the results, supporters and party members erupted in jubilation, chanting solidarity songs and celebrating the emergence of Hon. Akinsete Olakunle as the party’s flagbearer for Ibadan South West Constituency II.
Speaking shortly after his emergence, Hon. Akinsete Olakunle appreciated party leaders, executives and supporters for the confidence and trust reposed in him.
He described his victory as a collective achievement for all members of the party and the good people of Ibadan South West Constituency II, assuring residents of purposeful, responsive and people-oriented representation if elected during the 2027 general elections.
“This victory is not just for me alone, but for every committed member and supporter of our great party who believes in the vision of a better and more prosperous constituency.
I sincerely appreciate our leaders and supporters for this opportunity and confidence.
By the grace of God, I will remain committed to effective representation, grassroots development and the overall progress of our people,” he stated.
Party leaders present at the primary election commended members for their peaceful conduct and charged supporters to remain united and committed towards ensuring victory for the party in the forthcoming elections.
They further expressed confidence in the capacity and competence of Hon. Akinsete Olakunle to effectively represent the interest of the people and contribute meaningfully to legislative development in Oyo State.
The successful conduct of the primary election at UMC Molete has further reaffirmed the growing acceptance and strengthening structure of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) within Ibadan South West Local Government and Oyo State at large.
