The political atmosphere in Oyo State continues to gather momentum ahead of the 2027 general elections as an Oyo State House of Assembly Aspirant for Ibadan South-West Constituency II, Hon. Akinsete Olakunle, has officially Joined Allied Peoples Movement (APM), days after resigning from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Hon. Akinsete Olakunle, a grassroots politician from Ward 11 in Ibadan South-West Local Government, disclosed his new political alignment while addressing supporters and associates, describing the move as a strategic step towards advancing the interests of the people and strengthening progressive politics within the constituency.

According to him, his decision to dump the PDP and join the APM came after extensive consultations with leaders, political loyalists, community stakeholders, youth groups, and supporters across Ibadan South-West Constituency II.

Speaking on the development, the assembly aspirant noted that the Allied Peoples Movement offers a fresh platform to pursue purposeful leadership, quality representation, and community-driven development.
“After careful consultations and deep reflection on the future of our constituency and the political direction we seek, I have officially defected to the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), days after my resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
This movement is driven by the collective desire to serve the people better and contribute meaningfully to the progress of our constituency,” Hon. Akinsete Olakunle stated.

He further assured his supporters that his political ambition remains centered on youth empowerment, grassroots development, inclusiveness, and responsive representation capable of addressing the yearnings of the people.
Political analysts believe the latest defection further confirms the growing political realignment currently reshaping Oyo State politics ahead of the next electoral cycle, as more influential politicians continue to reposition themselves within emerging political structures.
