In the unfolding political landscape of Oyo State, it has become increasingly necessary for well-meaning stakeholders especially the youth to rise in defense of truth, fairness, and the collective future of our dear state.

Recent developments surrounding the Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Adebo Ogundoyin, are not only disturbing but also revealing.

They point to a calculated and dangerous attempt by certain political gladiators to manipulate narratives, sow discord, and ultimately derail the promising future of a young leader whose only “offence” is loyalty, performance, and rising influence.

We, the Youth Movement for Sustainable Development and Good Governance in Oyo State, categorically warn those behind this agenda to desist immediately.

Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin represents a new face of leadership, one rooted in service, humility, and consistency.

From his early days in politics, he has carried the legacy of his late father with dignity, ensuring that the Ogundoyin name remains a symbol of honor and respect.

As a lawmaker and now Speaker, he has not only represented his constituency effectively but has also elevated the image of Oyo State nationally and beyond, particularly in his role as Chairman of the Conference of Speakers.

Under the leadership of Governor Seyi Makinde, Oyo State has witnessed remarkable progress in governance, infrastructure, and institutional stability.

Central to this success has been the harmonious relationship between the executive and legislative arms, an understanding built on mutual respect, trust, and shared vision.

Rt. Hon. Ogundoyin has remained unwaveringly loyal to Governor Makinde.

Their relationship is not transactional; it is built on shared commitment to the development of Oyo State. No amount of propaganda, inducement, or political blackmail can fracture that bond.

It is therefore both shocking and disappointing that certain influential figures are allegedly attempting to weaponize the name and ambition of the Speaker for their own political ends.

Names such as Florence Ajimobi and Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja have been mentioned in connection with these moves. Individuals who, by virtue of their status, should be guardians of peace and promoters of political maturity.

While we acknowledge and respect their positions and contributions to Oyo State, we must state unequivocally: personal political interests must never override the collective good.

It is widely perceived that these actors already have preferred candidates for the post-Seyi Makinde era.

That is their right in a democratic setting. However, what is unacceptable is the attempt to suppress, undermine, or politically “neutralize” another promising youth.

This is not politics. This is sabotage.

The attempt to use Rt. Hon. Ogundoyin as a pawn in a broader scheme to destabilize Oyo State is not only unjust but dangerous.

It threatens the peace, tranquility, and developmental strides that the people of Oyo State are currently enjoying.

Let it be clearly stated: the future of Oyo State is bright, and that future includes vibrant, capable, and visionary young leaders like Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin.

We cannot, and will not stand by while a few power brokers attempt to mortgage that future for personal gain.

If there are political differences, the democratic path remains open: engage, debate, contest, and allow the people to decide.

Anything outside this framework is a direct assault on democracy.

We also reiterate our confidence in Governor Seyi Makinde as a leader of wisdom and discernment.

He has consistently demonstrated the ability to distinguish between genuine counsel and politically motivated propaganda.

We are confident that no amount of scheming can mislead him or weaken his trust in Rt. Hon. Ogundoyin.

To those orchestrating these plots, we offer this final word of caution: power is transient, but legacy is permanent.

History will judge not by titles held, but by lives impacted and futures preserved or destroyed.

Do not be remembered as those who tried to extinguish the light of a rising generation.

Oyo State belongs to all of us especially its future leaders.

And that future must be protected.
