Following recent insinuations and deliberate attempts by certain elements to sow discord within the Oyo State House of Assembly and create disaffection between the legislature and the executive arm of government, I, Hon. Waheed Akintayo, Chairman, House Committee on Information, Media, Public Affairs and ICT and Member Representing Oluyole State Constituency in the Oyo State House of Assembly, find it necessary to address the public and set the records straight.
It has come to my attention that mischievous narratives are being peddled, suggesting the existence of a covert plan designed to destabilize the peace and stability currently enjoyed across Oyo State.
Let me state unequivocally that I, Hon. Waheed Akintayo, am not a party to any such arrangement, nor have I been consulted, invited, or involved in any meeting, discussion, or scheme aimed at undermining the administration of His Excellency, Engr. Seyi Makinde, FNSE, the Executive Governor of Oyo State.
My position has always been consistent and clear: I stand for peace, unity, and the collective progress of Oyo State.
I wish to categorically disassociate myself from any individual, group, or interest seeking to pitch the legislature against the Governor or the Government of Oyo State. Such agents of disunity do not represent the values, discipline, and loyalty that define our mandate as elected representatives of the people.
I was not at any meeting where such issues were discussed, and I remain unaware of any plot to disrupt the existing cordial working relationship between both arms of government.
My loyalty to His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde, is total, unshaken, and unwavering. The Governor’s visionary leadership, people-centered policies, and commitment to sustainable development have transformed Oyo State into a model of good governance in Nigeria.
As a lawmaker and stakeholder, I consider it a duty to support, protect, and consolidate these gains for the benefit of our constituents and the generations yet unborn.
The people of Oluyole State Constituency who graciously gave me their mandate can be assured that I will not be distracted by political intrigues or unfounded rumours. My focus remains legislative excellence, effective representation, and continuous advocacy for policies that uplift our communities, empower our youth, and strengthen our institutions.
I, therefore, call on the good people of Oyo State to disregard any speculation suggesting my involvement in any anti-government plot.
I vote for peace, I stand for stability, and I remain firmly committed to the continued success of the Makinde-led administration and the prosperity of Oyo State.
Let it be known: I am for Oyo State, and Oyo State is for progress.
