The Ido chapter of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) would like to address recent misrepresentations regarding the endorsement of a candidate for the Ido State House of Assembly.

Specifically, we are responding to a letter of endorsement published on April 11, 2026, which falsely claimed that one “Elegant” had received our support, including the names of our esteemed leaders.

We feel it is our duty to set the record straight regarding the events that transpired. As loyal party members, we are bound by the decisions made by our leadership, and we believe it is imperative to clarify our collective stance.
During a key meeting held by the PDP leaders in Ido, we unanimously endorsed Hon. Rafiu Omothoso as the consensus candidate for the House of Assembly representing the Ido State Constituency. This decision was backed by a consensus from prominent leaders, including:
- Mallam Muyili Yusuf
- Alhaji Yisau Alabanla
- Akinsola Ayuba (PDP State Auditor)
- Mr. Akano Matthew (Special Assistant to the Governor on Ido/Ibarapa East)
- Alhaji Kamorodeen Aderibigbe
- Rtd. Commodore Rasaq Babalola (Chairman, Oyo State Civil Service Commission)
- Pastor Akintokun
- Alhaji Diekola Mukaila
Together, we fully support Hon. Rafiu Omothoso as our consensus candidate, a leader with a proven track record, having served as the former PDP Ward Treasurer, a Supervisory Councillor, and a two-term Councillor—truly the people’s choice.
We would like to emphasize that attempts to portray a crisis within the Ido chapter concerning the consensus candidate are unfounded and counterproductive. Such efforts divert attention from the progress of our party and may appear to serve the interests of external sponsors rather than the PDP.
We hereby issue a formal request for the retraction of the aforementioned publication within 24 hours.
Failure to do so will compel us to pursue legal action to protect the integrity of our party and its leadership.
In light of this situation, our youth leader has expressed his embarrassment regarding the unfolding events and has called for an immediate investigation into this matter.
We appreciate the unwavering support of our members and supporters as we move forward united behind Hon. Rafiu Omothoso.
