The chairman, House of Representatives committee on Digital, Information Communication Technology and Cybersecurity, Hon. Adedeji Dhikrullahi Stanley Olajide, has extended cash support and food items to widows across the state as part of activities to mark this year’s Ramadan celebration.

The gesture, according to Tolu Mustapha, Special Adviser Media and Public Affairs to Hon. Olajide, who represents Ibadan North-West/Ibadan South-West federal constituency of Oyo state in the lower chamber of the national assembly and is also a gubernatorial aspirant in Oyo State, is aimed at supporting members of society, particularly widows, during the holy month.

The beneficiaries, drawn from Odidiomo progressive widows, received cash gifts and assorted food items, ahead of tomorrow’s sallah celebration.

Speaking during the distribution exercise at his Adeoyo residence, the federal lawmaker described Ramadan as a season that promotes compassion, sacrifice and generosity, urging well meaning individuals to extend support to those in need.

According to him, widows remain one of the most vulnerable groups in society and deserve special attention, particularly during periods of spiritual observance.

He said, “Ramadan is a time to reflect on the plight of others and to extend kindness to those who need it the most. Supporting widows is not just an act of charity, but a moral responsibility.”

He explained that the initiative forms part of his broader commitment to social welfare and inclusive representation, noting that governance must reflect empathy and responsiveness to the needs of the people.

Olajide added that beyond legislative duties, it is important for leaders to maintain close ties with their constituents and provide timely support, especially in periods of economic difficulty.

The lawmaker assured that such interventions would be sustained and expanded to reach more vulnerable groups within the constituency.

Some of the beneficiaries expressed appreciation to the lawmaker for the gesture, describing it as timely and impactful, particularly in view of the current economic realities.

They offered prayers for Olajide, asking for continued strength and wisdom in his service to the people.
