Residents of Lagelu Local Government and political stakeholders across Oyo State gathered in large numbers to witness the historic commissioning of the newly constructed Amotekun Office facilitated by the Honourable Member representing Lagelu State Constituency at the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Olajide Akintunde (AKT), who also serves as Chairman, House Committee on Local Government, Chieftaincy Matters and State Honours.

The landmark security facility, strategically located at the Seven-Up axis of Monatan in Lagelu Local Government Area, was formally commissioned amid widespread commendations from political leaders, traditional rulers, religious bodies, and community stakeholders who described the project as a timely intervention to strengthen grassroots security.

The event attracted an array of dignitaries from across Oyo State’s political and religious spectrum, reflecting the growing recognition of Hon. Akintunde’s people-oriented legislative representation.

In his remarks, the Executive Chairman of Lagelu Local Government, Hon. Mudashiru Kamorudeen, applauded the lawmaker for what he described as purposeful representation at the legislative chamber.

According to him, many of the developmental strides currently being witnessed across the council area are closely linked to Hon. Akintunde’s legislative advocacy and influence.

He maintained that the lawmaker’s consistent dedication to the welfare of his constituents has positioned him as a worthy leader deserving of continued support, noting that “there is nothing wrong if such a performing representative is given the opportunity to serve a third term.”

Speaking on behalf of the host community, representatives of the area expressed deep appreciation to Hon. Akintunde for constructing the Amotekun facility, emphasizing that the presence of the security post would significantly enhance safety and stability within the Monatan axis and adjoining communities.

Adding the voice of traditional authority, the Elejioku of Ejioku, Oba Bashiru Adeshina, testified to the people-centred nature of AKT’s representation.

The monarch commended the legislator’s visible developmental footprint across Lagelu and urged party leaders and executives to favourably consider him should he pursue a third-term ambition.

Prominent leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party in Lagelu Local Government also spoke glowingly of the lawmaker’s performance.

Chief Babatunde Tijani, former commissioner Oribayo Okeyode, and elder statesman Pa Kehinde Fabunmi jointly praised Hon. Akintunde for what they described as developmental projects that have significantly reduced the political burden of the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.

They further reassured party faithful that ongoing internal challenges within the party would ultimately be resolved in favour of unity and collective progress.

While addressing the gathering, the host and facilitator of the project, Hon. Olajide Akintunde (AKT), expressed profound appreciation to party leaders, community stakeholders, and residents for their unwavering support.

He revealed that the idea to construct the Amotekun office was borne out of concerns raised by community leaders over rising security challenges within the Monatan axis.

According to him, “It was the complaints and appeals from the community leaders regarding the insecurity situation in this area that inspired the decision to facilitate the construction of this Amotekun station to safeguard lives and property.”

The lawmaker also used the occasion to clarify the status of his legislative aides, explaining that those being formally inaugurated had already been serving and receiving stipends since June of the previous year.

He emphasized that their primary responsibility is to strengthen communication between constituents and their representative by conveying the needs and concerns of the people from their respective communities.

The Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adebo Edward Ogundoyin, in his goodwill message, commended Hon. Akintunde for his exemplary legislative performance, describing his contributions within the Assembly as “top-notch and impactful.”

The Speaker further acknowledged the calls by stakeholders regarding AKT’s possible third-term ambition, noting that he aligns with the sentiments expressed by community leaders and party stakeholders.

The ceremony also witnessed the presence of several prominent personalities including the ALGON Chairman and Egbeda Local Government Chairman, Hon. Sikiru Sanda; respected political figures such as Gbadamosi Kazeem, Benedict Akika, Tokunbo Adeaga, and Alhaja Fatimoh Oyegbori.

Also in attendance were traditional rulers, Baales, chiefs, religious leaders from the League of Imams and Alfas, the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), and Isese representatives within Lagelu Local Government, alongside executives of the Peoples Democratic Party, ward chairmen, political appointees, and community leaders.

The commissioning of the Amotekun office is widely regarded as a significant milestone in strengthening grassroots security architecture within Lagelu Local Government and further reinforces Hon. Olajide Akintunde’s growing reputation for delivering impactful community-driven development.
