Residents of Ibadan South West Local Government are set to benefit from a special health and wellness initiative tagged “Active Life for Senior Citizens 2.0,” organised by Hon. Akinsete Olakunle, the Special Adviser to Seyi Makinde on Urban Development, in collaboration with OrayFit.

The programme is specifically designed for senior citizens aged 50 years and above and aims to encourage healthy living, physical fitness, and social engagement among elderly residents within Ibadan South West Local Government.

According to the organisers, the event is scheduled to take place on March 28 at the Capitalinn Hotel car park located in Oluyole Estate, from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.

Participants will benefit from a variety of health-focused activities including free medical check-ups, aerobics sessions, music, networking opportunities, and distribution of free items.


 

 

The organisers explained that the programme forms part of broader efforts to promote an active lifestyle among senior citizens while also strengthening community bonding.

Speaking on the initiative, Hon. Akinsete who is also an aspirant for the Oyo State House of Assembly, Ibadan South West II said the programme reflects his dedication to the wellbeing of elderly residents.

He emphasised that staying physically active plays a vital role in improving longevity and overall quality of life.

Professional fitness instructors from OrayFit will guide participants through carefully designed exercise routines suitable for older adults, while medical personnel will be available to conduct basic health screenings.

Although the initiative is primarily targeted at individuals aged 50 and above, the organisers noted that it is open to members of the public, encouraging families and younger residents to attend and support their elderly relatives.

Attendance is free, and participants are advised to come in comfortable exercise outfits and sneakers** to fully participate in the fitness sessions.

The programme is expected to attract many residents across Ibadan South West who are eager to embrace healthier lifestyles and community-driven wellness initiatives.
