In the spirit of compassion, generosity and the teachings of the holy month of Ramadan, a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) aspirant for Ibadan North Constituency II in the Oyo State House of Assembly, Engr. Olasupo Adams Olalekan, on Monday extended hands of love and support to Muslim faithful in Ibadan North Local Government by distributing foodstuffs to assist them during the fasting period.
The philanthropic gesture took place at the Ijokodo Central Mosque, where the Ibadan North-born engineer shared foodstuffs with numerous Muslim faithful observing the Ramadan fast.
The initiative, which attracted a large number of beneficiaries, was aimed at easing the burden of fasting Muslims and reinforcing the values of charity, unity, and community support that define the holy month of Ramadan.
Speaking during the distribution exercise, Engr. Olalekan, who hails from Ward 8 in Ibadan North Local Government, emphasized the importance of extending support to the Muslim Ummah during Ramadan.
He noted that acts of kindness and generosity remain central to the teachings of Islam and the essence of the fasting period.
He also used the opportunity to call on Muslim faithful to continue to offer prayers for the peace, unity and continued progress of Oyo State under the leadership of the state governor, Seyi Makinde.
Engr.Olasupo Adams Olalekan equally commended the leadership style and developmental strides of the Executive Chairman of Ibadan North Local Government, Oluwaseun Olufade, describing him as a committed and visionary leader who has continued to deliver people-oriented governance at the grassroots level.
According to him, “Ramadan is a sacred period that teaches us sacrifice, compassion and generosity.
It is therefore important that we support our brothers and sisters who are observing the fast and continue to strengthen the bonds within our community.”
He further prayed that Allah, in His infinite mercy, would grant everyone the grace to witness many more Ramadan seasons in good health and prosperity.
In their separate remarks, several beneficiaries expressed deep appreciation to Engr. Olalekan for the thoughtful gesture, describing it as timely and impactful.
They offered prayers for him, asking Allah to reward his generosity abundantly and grant him success in all his aspirations.
Engr. Olalekan reaffirmed his commitment to contributing meaningfully to the growth and development of Ibadan North Local Government, assuring residents that he remains dedicated to initiatives that uplift the welfare of the people and strengthen community development.
The humanitarian outreach has been widely applauded by residents and community members, who described the gesture as a reflection of responsible leadership and genuine concern for the wellbeing of the people.
