In a statement released to mark the occasion, the foundation’s founder, Oloye Benedict Akika, described women as pillars of progress whose strength, resilience, and leadership continue to shape communities and inspire future generations.

This year’s celebration, themed “Give To Gain,” highlights the importance of generosity, service, and collective support as pathways to sustainable growth and societal development.
The foundation specially recognized the First Lady of Oyo State, Tamunomini Makinde, for her dedication to humanitarian causes, women empowerment, and social development initiatives across the state. The foundation noted that her leadership and compassion have positively impacted the lives of many women and vulnerable groups.

The celebration also celebrated Yeye Bidemi Akika for her unwavering support for community development and her role in promoting women-focused initiatives within the foundation.
In addition, the Omituntun Benedict Forum Ladies and Omituntun Benedict Forum Women were commended for their commitment to service, grassroots mobilization, and their continuous efforts to support the vision of the foundation.
Akika emphasized that the International Women’s Day celebration serves as a reminder of the need to continuously support women, promote gender inclusion, and create opportunities that allow women to thrive in all sectors of society.
He further urged individuals, organizations, and leaders to remain committed to empowering women and girls, noting that investing in women ultimately leads to stronger families, communities, and nations.
OBF reaffirmed its dedication to championing initiatives that uplift women, encourage leadership, and promote social impact in line with the spirit of the International Women’s Day celebration.
