A Hopeful of the House of Representatives representing Ibadan SouthWest/NorthWest Federal Constituency, Mayegun Sunday Olusegun Babanumi, has welcomed the court ruling upholding the already concluded 2025 National Convention of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), which held in Ibadan, describing it as a major relief and a validation of due process.
In a statement made available to journalists, Babanumi said the judgment has finally laid to rest all legal uncertainties and controversies that trailed the party’s national gathering, affirming the legitimacy of the decisions and resolutions reached during the convention.

According to him, the court’s pronouncement is not only a victory for the PDP as a political institution but also a triumph for democracy and the rule of law in Nigeria.
He commended the judiciary for standing firm in the defense of constitutional order and party supremacy, noting that the ruling will further strengthen confidence in the PDP’s internal democratic processes.

Babanumi also lauded the leadership and unwavering support of Seyi Makinde, describing the Oyo State Governor as a stabilizing force whose commitment to party unity and democratic ideals has continued to inspire members across the state and beyond.
He noted that Governor Makinde’s dedication to strengthening party structures and promoting internal cohesion played a significant role in ensuring the success of the national convention held in Ibadan.
“The judgment has reaffirmed that our party operates within the ambit of the law. It is a reassurance to members and supporters across the country that due process was followed and that the outcomes of the convention remain valid and binding,” he stated.
Babanumi urged party faithful, particularly in Oyo State and the Ibadan SouthWest/NorthWest Federal Constituency, to remain united and focused on the larger goal of repositioning the party for future electoral successes.
He emphasized that internal unity and respect for democratic principles remain critical as the PDP prepares for forthcoming political engagements.
The aspirant further called on stakeholders to close ranks, set aside differences, and work collectively toward strengthening the party’s structure at all levels, adding that the court ruling presents an opportunity for renewed commitment and strategic planning.
Babanumi reiterated his dedication to the ideals of the PDP and expressed optimism that the party would continue to provide credible leadership and effective representation for the people.
