







The member representing Ibadan North State Constituency I at the Oyo State House of Assembly and Chairperson, House Committee on Women Affairs and Social Inclusion, Hon. Olufunke Comforter Adeniyi-Olajide, has congratulated the government and people of Oyo State on the occasion of the state’s 50th anniversary, describing the milestone as a celebration of resilience, visionary leadership and collective progress.
In a goodwill message issued to Journalist on Tuesday to commemorate the golden jubilee of the Pace Setter State, Hon. Comforter praised Governor Seyi Makinde for what she described as purposeful and people-focused leadership that has repositioned governance in Oyo State.




According to the lawmaker, Governor Makinde’s administration has shown remarkable commitment to infrastructure renewal, economic expansion, education development and institutional reforms, which she noted have strengthened public trust in governance and accelerated socio-economic growth across the state.
Hon. Comforter also paid glowing tribute to former Governor Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, now the Olubadan of Ibadanland, acknowledging his significant role in strengthening democratic governance and political stability in Oyo State.
She described the revered monarch as a statesman whose wealth of experience and leadership legacy continue to shape the political landscape of the state.
She further recognized the foundational contributions of Brigadier David Jemibewon (rtd), former Military Governor of the old Oyo State, noting that his administrative foresight and disciplined leadership laid essential institutional foundations during the early years of the state’s formation.
The lawmaker extended appreciation to past and present leaders, traditional rulers, technocrats, civil servants, community leaders, professionals, artisans and citizens whose sacrifices and dedication have contributed immensely to the development of Oyo State over the past five decades.
“Oyo State’s journey over the last 50 years reflects the power of unity, visionary leadership and the determination of its people to achieve sustainable progress despite challenges.
The state has continued to maintain its position as a pacesetter in education, culture, governance, media and political development,” she stated.
Hon. Comforter urged residents of the state, particularly women and young people, to draw inspiration from the golden jubilee by embracing civic responsibility, unity and active participation in community and state development.
“As we celebrate this historic milestone, stakeholders must work collectively to preserve the legacies of our founding fathers while building a more inclusive, prosperous and sustainable future for generations to come,” she added.
She reaffirmed her commitment, particularly through her legislative role and leadership as Chairperson of the House Committee on Women Affairs and Social Inclusion, to champion policies that promote gender equity, social protection, grassroots empowerment and inclusive development across Ibadan North Constituency I and Oyo State at large.
