







The Oyo State Government has announced the continuation of its free public viewing initiative for football fans in the state as the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) reaches its grand finale today.
The initiative, coordinated through the Oyo State Agency for Youth Development, is part of the state government’s efforts to promote unity, social engagement, and youth inclusion through sports and recreational activities.




Racecourse Adamasingba stadium has been equipped with large screens, seating arrangements, and adequate security to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for residents who wish to watch the final match live.
Speaking on behalf of the state Governor, the Chairman, Oyo State Agency for Youth Development, Hon. Adebowale Adebayo Falana, stated that the free viewing exercise has recorded massive participation since the commencement of the tournament, drawing youths, families, and football enthusiasts together in a peaceful and celebratory atmosphere.
Adebowale noted that the initiative aligns with Governor Seyi Makinde’s commitment to grassroots engagement and youth-friendly policies, using sports as a tool for social cohesion and positive interaction.
The government further stated that security agencies and emergency response teams have been deployed to the viewing centres to maintain order and ensure the safety of participants throughout the duration of the match.
Residents who spoke at the third-place show yesterday, where Nigeria emerged the third-place winners commended the state government for the initiative, describing it as a welcome relief amid economic pressures and an opportunity for communal bonding.
Football fans also praised the quality of the viewing experience, citing clear visuals, organized seating, and a lively atmosphere that mirrors the excitement of watching the match in a stadium.
The state government urged residents to conduct themselves responsibly at the viewing centres and adhere to all safety guidelines to ensure a hitch-free event.
As anticipation builds ahead of today’s final showdown, the Oyo State Government reaffirmed its commitment to leveraging sports and entertainment as platforms to engage the populace and foster a sense of shared identity among residents.
