





The Federation of Ibadan Students’ Union (FIBSU) National Council has showered encomiums on the Executive Chairman of Lagelu Local Government, Hon. Mudashiru Kamorudeen Morenikeji, for the approval and disbursement of bursary funds to indigent students of Lagelu Local Government Area.
The commendation was contained in a release by the National President of FIBSU, Aare Giwa Kamorudeen Olawale, during the official flag-off ceremony of the Lagelu Local Government bursary disbursement, held on Wednesday, 17th December 2025, at the Council Secretariat, Iyana Offa.
Speaking at the event, Aare Giwa described the bursary initiative as a timely, compassionate, and people-centered intervention aimed at easing the financial burden on students amid prevailing economic realities.

He noted that the gesture clearly demonstrates Hon. Morenikeji’s unwavering commitment to education, youth empowerment, and inclusive grassroots governance.
According to the FIBSU National Council President, the bursary scheme—targeted at indigent but deserving Lagelu students across tertiary institutions—is a strong indication that the Lagelu LG administration recognizes education as a critical tool for sustainable development and social advancement.
“This bursary disbursement goes beyond financial assistance; it is a strong message of encouragement and hope to Lagelu students. Hon. Mudashiru Kamorudeen Morenikeji has shown uncommon leadership by prioritizing students’ welfare and investing in the future of our community,” Aare Giwa stated.
He further applauded the transparent and inclusive process adopted for the exercise, stressing that the registration and screening procedures ensured fairness, accountability, and credibility in the selection of beneficiaries.
The FIBSU National Council also expressed appreciation to the management and staff of Lagelu Local Government for their cooperation and effective coordination, which contributed to the smooth execution of the bursary programme.
In conclusion, the Union called on other local government chairmen and political leaders across Ibadanland and Oyo State to emulate the Lagelu LG example by making deliberate investments in education and youth development.
The FIBSU National Council reaffirmed its commitment to constructive engagement and partnership with responsive leaders in advancing the welfare and academic progress of Ibadan students globally.
