The Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII) has conferred the Christian Prestigious Award (CPA) on former Oyo State Commissioner for Finance, Budget and Planning, Hon. Abimbola Adekanmbi, in recognition of his outstanding contributions to Christian causes and exemplary public service.
The prestigious honour was presented at the 2025 Ibadanland Christmas Carol and Awards, organised by the CCII under the theme “Joy to the World… the Lord has come.”
The colourful event attracted dignitaries, Christian leaders, and prominent Ibadan sons and daughters.
Hon. Adekanmbi, who was unavoidably absent, was ably represented by former House of Representatives aspirant for Ibadan North Federal Constituency, Hon.. Matthew Alani Oyeniyi, who received the award on his behalf.
Delivering his goodwill message, Hon. Oyeniyi read from the Holy Bible, anchoring his remarks on scriptural teachings about love, service, and gratitude.
He lauded the leadership of the Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes for finding Hon. Abimbola Adekanmbi worthy of the Christian Prestigious Award, describing the recognition as well-deserved and timely.
He further urged Nigerians, particularly Oyo state residents, to use the yuletide season to spread genuine love, unity, and compassion, noting that Christmas should go beyond celebration to reflect Christ-like values in words and deeds.
Hon. Abimbola Adekanmbi is presently the committee chairman of the upgrade of Samuel Ladoke Akintola Airport (Ibadan Airport) a major project led by Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde.
Hon. Abimbola Adekanmbi served as a member of the Oyo State Executive Council from 2011 to 2019, during which he held the strategic portfolio of Commissioner for Finance, Budget and Planning.
He was widely acclaimed for running a best-in-class Ministry of Finance, marked by prudence, transparency, and efficient management of scarce public resources.
A Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), Adekanmbi has also served on the ACCA Network Panel for the Corporate Sector, where he represented corporate interests, contributed to policy formulation, and engaged senior finance professionals on advancing best practices within the profession.
Beyond public service, he is a Certified SAP FI/CO Consultant, a seasoned Business Process Expert and Business Engineer, with cross-industry and multi-country experience.
His expertise spans the conceptualisation, design, customisation, and support of complex ERP systems and third-party solutions across sectors including the public service, FMCG/retail, pharmaceuticals, and law enforcement.
Widely regarded as a solution architect with a razor-sharp intellect, Hon. Adekanmbi remains in high demand across both the private and public sectors due to his consistent delivery to exacting and excellent standards.
The award, according to the organisers, reflects his enduring commitment to faith-based values, excellence in service, and positive impact on society.
