As anticipation heightens ahead of the much-awaited Davido 5ive Alive Concert in Ibadan, the ancient city is already experiencing an unprecedented influx of visitors from across Nigeria and neighboring West African countries. The concert, powered by the Oyo State Government through the Agency for Youth Development, is set to make a significant cultural and economic impact.

A personal investigation by Olusegun C. A. Taiwo, Publisher, 9ja News 24/7, Ibadan, recorded that several hotels, guest houses, and short-let apartments across the city especially near the concert venue at Liberty Stadium have reported a significant spike in bookings since the start of the week. Industry insiders say accommodation demand has soared to such an extent that there may be no vacant rooms left by Friday, a day before the concert.

One hotel manager, who preferred to speak under anonymity, confirmed this development:

“From Monday till now, accommodation booking has been overwhelming. We are nearly at full capacity, and we expect that by Friday, a lot of people might struggle to find a place to stay for the concert. This is the kind of atmosphere Ibadan has not witnessed in a long while.”

This magnetic pull toward Ibadan isn’t just limited to fans from Lagos, Ogun, and Osun States as where as international visitors have also confirmed their attendance, reinforcing the concert’s potential to elevate the city’s profile on the global entertainment map.

A fan from a very close neighbouring state, who asked not to be named, shared her surprise at Ibadan being chosen for such a massive event:

“It’s not that I have not seen Davido before, but I am only surprised that the concert is happening here in Ibadan. I am excited to check out the wonder of this city and see firsthand the good works being done by the state government led by Governor Seyi Makinde as reported in media daily.”

With excitement building by the hour, Ibadan is clearly positioned not just as the host of a major music event, but as a fast-emerging hub for tourism, hospitality, and youth-driven development in Nigeria’s southwest.

The 5ive Alive Concert takes place this Saturday, and all roads both local and international now lead to Ibadan.
