In commemoration of this year’s World Food Day, the Ibadan North Local Government joined other local councils across Oyo State to celebrate agriculture and food security in grand style.

The state-level event, organized by the Oyo State Government, took place at the House of Assembly Car Park, Secretariat, Ibadan, and featured impressive exhibitions of farm produce from all 33 local governments.

Among the many displays, the Ibadan North Local Government farmers’ pavilion stood out for its vibrancy and diversity.

Farmers from the council showcased a rich collection of agricultural produce, including yam, plantain, livestock, fish, chickens, fruits, vegetables, and several other farm products, which were sold at highly affordable prices to promote food accessibility and affordability.

Speaking during the exhibition, the Director of Agriculture, Ibadan North Local Government, Mrs. Akanni Adeola, commended the State Government under the leadership of Governor Seyi Makinde for organizing the 2025 World Food Day celebration in a unique and impactful way.

According to her, the event not only highlights the importance of agriculture but also reflects the administration’s commitment to ensuring food security and supporting farmers across the state.

“It is so beautiful to see several farmers proudly showcasing their various agricultural products.

More importantly, it allows people to buy these items at cheaper rates. Governor Seyi Makinde’s policies have made agriculture thrive in Oyo State, and this celebration is proof of that,” she said.

Mrs. Adeola also extended her appreciation to the Executive Chairman of Ibadan North Local Government, Hon. Oluwaseun Olufade, for his steadfast support of agricultural development within the council.

She noted that Hon. Olufade has been proactive in promoting agricultural growth, from crop cultivation to livestock farming and has consistently encouraged female farmers by providing them with acres of land to boost food production and sustainability.

“Our chairman does not joke with agriculture. His passion and interventions have helped many farmers, especially women, to thrive and contribute meaningfully to food security in Ibadan North,” she added.

The event was graced by several top officials from the Ibadan North Local Government, who visited the pavilion to support and patronize the farmers. Among them were:
