The atmosphere in Egbeda Local Government was filled with gratitude and excitement as Hon. Sanni Oladiran Wasiu, a respected grassroots politician and former Supervisor for Works (2019–2023), extended his hand of compassion to widows, party members and community leaders through a major empowerment initiative that directly benefited over 200 individuals.

The event, held earlier today, was designed to provide relief to widows and vulnerable residents struggling under the weight of the current economic realities.

Each beneficiary received financial support and food items, while women leaders, councillors and party stalwarts were also appreciated with cash incentives in recognition of their service and contributions to community growth.

Hon. Wasiu Sanni, who was the 2015 candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), used the occasion to reaffirm his dedication to humanitarian service and grassroots development.

He praised the Executive Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde, for his people-oriented leadership, describing him as a true model of responsive governance. He pledged to sustain and even expand such people-driven initiatives if given the opportunity to serve in a higher capacity.

Addressing the gathering, Hon. Wasiu also disclosed plans to focus his next outreach on youth empowerment, noting that supporting young people with sustainable opportunities remains a key step in addressing unemployment and social inequality.

He further urged residents to take part actively in the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR), emphasizing that meaningful change begins with civic participation.

The empowerment programme was graced by several notable figures, including Pastor Olamoyegun Judah, former acting party chairman; Chief Mrs. Jumoke Lawal; Chief Olawale Ebenezer Alawe, current party chairman; Alhaji Busari Liadi, Vice Chairman; Hon. Osuolale KanduKandu, former party secretary and current treasurer; Alhaji Lukman Akinpelu; and Hon. Teslim Raji, who represented the councillors.

The Chairman of Egbeda Local Government, Hon. Sikiru Sanda, was represented at the event.

Other attendees included ward chairmen, women leaders and the local government party youth leader, who all commended Hon. Wasiu for his rare show of generosity and unwavering commitment to the welfare of his people.

They described him as “a true friend of the masses and a beacon of hope” applauding his consistent efforts to uplift the less privileged and bring comfort to widows at a time of great economic difficulty.

The event concluded with songs of appreciation and heartfelt prayers from beneficiaries, many of whom testified that the gesture came at a time of real need, describing Hon. Sanni Oladiran Wasiu as a selfless leader whose compassion continues to speak louder than words.
