The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ibadan North Local Government has held a historic familiarisation meeting to bring together its newly elected local government and ward executives with state appointees and elected representatives from the council area.

The event, which took place following the recent ward, local government, and state congresses of the party, was described as a unifying step to consolidate PDP’s dominance in the local government and beyond.

In his remarks, the leader of the party in Ibadan North, Baba Ismaila Ashipa, congratulated the new executives across the 12 wards and at the council level.

He charged them to remain united, see themselves as one family, and work together to deliver the party to greater electoral victories.

Also speaking, the member representing Ibadan North Constituency 1 in the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Olufunke Comforter, appreciated party members for their efforts in the just-concluded Federal Constituency by-election, which PDP won.

 




 

She encouraged the new executives to bring positive energy into the party.

The Deputy Chief of Staff to Governor Seyi Makinde, Hon. Kazim Adeyinka Adeniyi Bibire, congratulated the executives, urging them to serve as good ambassadors of their wards and to always prioritise the PDP in their actions.

On his part, the Executive Chairman of Ibadan North Local Government, Hon. Oluwaseun Olufade, expressed delight at the meeting, describing Ibadan North PDP as the most organised in the entire 33 local governments of Oyo State.

He commended the unity among appointees, elected representatives, and party executives, while pledging continued support for the party.

He apologised to anyone who might have felt offended during the congress process and announced a donation of ₦1.4 million to the ward and local executives.

Hon. Olufade further declared ward and local government meetings officially open, with the meeting scheduled to commence on Wednesday, October 8, 2025.

The Chairman of the Oyo State Youth Development Agency, Hon. Falana Adebowale, advised the new executives to bring meaningful development to the party at the grassroots, while urging ward chairmen to show exemplary leadership.

In his goodwill message, the newly elected member of the House of Representatives for Ibadan North Federal Constituency, Hon. Folajimi Oyekunle (Don), thanked party leaders and members for their support during his victory at the by-election.

He urged the executives to take their responsibilities seriously in projecting the image of the party.

He donated ₦1 million to the new executives.

Similarly, the Oyo State lawmaker representing Ibadan North Constituency 2, Hon. Adebayo Babajide Gabriel, thanked the party for its role in his political journey.

He charged the new executives to remain humble, united, and not to tarnish the image of the PDP.

He also made a donation of ₦700,000 to the party executives.

Other leaders, including Hon. Lanre Sarumi (Skiddo) and the Oyo State PDP Public Relations Officer, Hon. Michael Ogunsina, reiterated the need for unity and hard work.

Ogunsina emphasised that PDP has consistently won the highest number of votes in Ibadan and tasked the new executives with surpassing past records in future elections.

In his appreciation message, the new Ibadan North PDP Chairman, Comrade Mustapha, thanked party leaders for their support and assured them of a disciplined and result-driven tenure.

He pledged to monitor executives’ commitment to party development and expressed confidence in delivering Ibadan North for PDP in future elections.
