

The family of late Alhaja Mariat Iyabo Azeez Alaro on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, held a well-attended 8-day Fidau prayer in her honour at the Alaro compound, Ward 4, Ibadan North Local Government.

Alhaja Mariat Iyabo Azeez Alaro passed away on September 16, 2025, after a brief illness.
Her passing was described by many as a great loss to the family, the community, and all who knew her.


The Fidau prayer drew a large gathering of religious leaders, politicians, civil servants, traditional rulers, businessmen and women, as well as friends and associates of the family.

The chief host of the event was Imam Rahman Alaro, while the sermon was delivered by Sheikh Mahmoud Eleshinmeta Olanrewaju.

Prayers were offered by Islamic clerics for Allah to accept the soul of the deceased and grant her Aljanah Firdaus.

Sheikh Olanrewaju, in his sermon, reminded attendees of the inevitability of death and the importance of living a righteous, peaceful, and impactful life.
Her children includes: Alhaja Mordhiyah Mopelola, Late Alhaja Rahman Adeyemi, Mrs. Ibidunni Suebat, Alhaji Nurudeen Akirole, and Mr. Ola Alaro Azeez ( lastborn).

Late Alhaja Mariat Iyabo Azeez Alaro is survived by her children: Alhaja Mordhiyah Mopelola, Late Alhaja Rahman Adeyemi, Mrs. Ibidunni Suebat, Alhaji Nurudeen Akirole, and Mr. Ola Alaro Azeez (her lastborn), as well as grandchildren and great-grandchildren.








Dignitaries in attendance included Alhaji Daolek, Vice Chairman of Ibadan North Local Government and Political Head of Aare Latosa LCDA; Hon. Akeem Ayoade, Vice Chairman of Egbeda Local Government and Political Head of Ajorosun LCDA; Hon. Ibrahim Oladebo Simple, former Caretaker Chairman of Aare Latosa LCDA; Hon. Kazeem Oshoniyi; Hon. Jossy Oladapo; Hon. Kazeem Ibuowo, Hon. Akeem, hon. Kazeem Eleni, members of the Ibadan Gold Sellers Association; representatives of SPED Alumni, University of Ibadan Alumni, Islamic High School Old Students, PDP stalwarts, Ulamas, and many others.

Speaking on behalf of the family, Alhaja Mordhiyah Mopelola expressed heartfelt gratitude to relatives, friends, and associates who came out en masse to show love and solidarity.
She prayed for God’s blessings of long life and sound health for all who supported the family during their moment of grief.
