In a jointly signed statement, the Councilors described Hon. Don’s victory secured with a commanding margin of 18,404 votes against his closest rival from the All Progressives Congress (APC), Hon. Adewale Olatunji Murphy, who polled 8,312 votes as “a historic win that reflects the unshakable trust and confidence of the people of Ibadan North in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and in the transformative leadership style of Governor Seyi Makinde.”
The statement further hailed the victory as “not only a personal triumph for Hon. Don but also a collective victory for the entire PDP family, and most importantly, for the hardworking people of Ibadan North who spoke with one voice at the ballot box.”
While expressing profound gratitude to the Executive Governor of Oyo State, His Excellency Engr. Seyi Makinde, FNSE, the Councilors acknowledged his visionary leadership and people-oriented governance as the enabling force that made the bye-election victory possible.
They also paid glowing tribute to the unrivaled political sagacity and unwavering commitment of Otunba Seye Famojuro, describing him as “the backbone and stabilizer whose selfless contributions continue to strengthen the PDP family and ensure its electoral dominance in Oyo State.”
The Councilors equally recognized the steadfastness of the Oyo State PDP Secretary, Alhaji Wasiu Adeleke, party executives at both state and local government levels, and the unrelenting efforts of all leaders, stakeholders, and members of the PDP whose sacrifices, unity, and resilience made the landslide victory a reality.
Special mention was also given to the Executive Chairman of Ibadan North Local Government, Hon. Oluwaseun Olufade, for his tireless mobilization, as well as to federal and state lawmakers, commissioners, local government chairmen, appointees, and the Campaign Committee led by Hon. Demola Omotoso, who worked round the clock to deliver victory at the polls.
The Councilors further lauded the good people of Ibadan North, traditional rulers, religious leaders, artisans, students, market men and women, non-indigenes, and the entire electorate for standing firmly with the PDP and casting their votes in overwhelming numbers for Hon. Don.
“This victory is a triumph of democracy, the voice of the people, and the beginning of a new chapter of growth and development for Ibadan North,” the Councilors declared.
They urged Hon. Folajimi Oyekunle Don to approach his legislative responsibilities at the National Assembly with humility, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to the needs of his constituents, assuring him of their total support as grassroots representatives.
“Hon. Don’s victory is not only for himself or the PDP; it is for every son and daughter of Ibadan North who dreams of a brighter future.
We stand solidly with him as he embarks on this noble journey of service,” the Councilors affirmed.
The Councilors concluded by pledging continued loyalty to Governor Seyi Makinde’s administration and a renewed commitment to the progress of Ibadan North and Oyo State at large.
