The wave of congratulations has continued to pour in for Hon. Folajimi Oyekunle, popularly known as DON, following his emphatic victory at the just concluded Ibadan North Federal Constituency bye-election.

In a goodwill message, Hon. Saheed Ademola Ibrahim, former Deputy Leader of Ibadan North Local Government, joined other political heavyweights to felicitate with Hon. DON on his landslide win under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Hon. Ibrahim, speaking on behalf of the former councilors and grassroots mobilizers who recently defected from the APC to the PDP under the leadership of Hon. Demola Omotoso, described Hon. DON’s victory as “a triumph of unity, inclusiveness, and the people’s will.”

It would be recalled that on July 17, a political earthquake shook Oyo APC when several former councilors and party chieftains including Hon. Adebayo Salami “Fire” (Ward 4), Hon. Rasheed Oladoja (Ward 5), Hon. Laide Durodola (Ward 10), Hon. Atiku (Ward 6), Hon. Paul (Ward 5), Hon. Saliu (Ward 12), Labule (Ward 5) and others dumped the APC and joined the PDP ahead of the August 16 bye-election.

According to Hon. Saheed Ademola Ibrahim, the decision of these leaders to return to the PDP was vindicated by the massive electoral success recorded, as the party cleared all 12 wards in the constituency.

“We are proud to identify with Hon. Folajimi Oyekunle DON.

His victory represents a new dawn for Ibadan North, and we believe he will deliver effective representation, guided by integrity and people-oriented policies,” Ibrahim stated.

They assured Hon. DON of their unflinching support as he prepares to take his rightful seat at the National Assembly.

They expressed optimism that his tenure will usher in a new era of developmental politics in Ibadan North.

With the bye-election now concluded and PDP firmly in control of Ibadan North, analysts have described the overwhelming victory of Hon. DON as a political tsunami that may reshape the political dynamics of Oyo State ahead of 2027.
