The Chief Whip of the Oyo State House of Assembly, representing the good people of Atiba State Constituency, Hon. Gbenga Joseph Oyekola, and the Political Head of Sooro Local Council Development Area, Hon. Badmus Ismail Olaide, have jointly commissioned a 300KVA electricity transformer aimed at improving power supply to residents of the Ayetoro Ifelagba community in Atiba Local Government Area.

The newly installed transformer, which was fully funded by members of the Ayetoro Ifelagba community, marks a significant milestone in the area’s long-standing efforts to achieve more stable and efficient electricity access.
The commissioning ceremony, held on Friday, 1st August 2025, drew community leaders, youth representatives, clerics, and local residents who expressed optimism about the anticipated improvements to business activities and general living conditions.

Speaking at the event, Hon. Gbenga Oyekola commended the self-help initiative demonstrated by the community, describing it as a clear indication of unity and proactive leadership at the grassroots level.
He also reiterated the state government’s continued support for infrastructural development across rural and semi-urban communities.
“This initiative sets an example for other communities. While government support is important, grassroots contributions like this show the power of collective action,” Oyekola stated.
This commissioning is a miracle based on the way the community fast-tracks projects worth over #31million naira, a proactive passion for unity within the residents of the community.
He further assured them of constant support in making other materials needed realistic. He urged them to conceive a perfect security architecture with a promise of personal donations of Solar lights to the transformer section.
He urged them to maintain the transformer properly, stressing that the residents’ maintenance culture is poor, but they should change the norms.

Sooro Political Head, Hon. Badmus also lauded the community’s effort, emphasizing that improved power supply would positively impact educational institutions, healthcare delivery, and small businesses within the locality.
Earlier in his speech, the Ayetoro Ifelagba Community Chairman, Mr. Dn J.O Babalola, expressed gratitude to the community members for their spirit of sacrifice, self-help, and unity in making the long-term passion a realistic agenda.
He said the donations were presumed impossible, but the community made it possible with huge amounts of naira unexpectedly.
Community leaders expressed gratitude to the lawmakers for their presence and advocacy, noting that the commissioning symbolizes both political accountability and a new era of improved electricity supply for Ayetoro Ifelagba.
