The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has officially released its timetable and schedule of activities for its forthcoming bye-election primary across the country, with the main election slated for Saturday, August 16, 2025.

According to the timetable signed by the PDP National Organizing Secretary, Hon. Umar M. Bature, the process kicks off with the notice of primary election and congresses to state chapters on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, while the sale of forms commences the next day, Thursday, July 3, and runs through Thursday, July 10, 2025.

The party set Friday, July 11, 2025, as the deadline for the submission of completed forms at the PDP National Secretariat in Abuja. Screening of aspirants is scheduled for Tuesday, July 15, 2025, followed by ward congresses to elect 3-man ad-hoc delegates on Thursday, July 17, 2025.

Local Government Congresses to elect one national delegate per LGA (where applicable) will take place on Friday, July 18, while appeals for screening, ward, and LGA congresses are to be heard on Saturday, July 19, 2025.



 

The much-anticipated party primary (candidate nomination) is slated for Monday, July 21, with appeals on the primaries taking place the following day, Tuesday, July 22.

The timetable further indicates that the last day for submission of candidates’ names to the INEC nomination portal is Friday, July 25, and the final deadline for submission of polling agents is Monday, August 4, 2025.

In terms of fees, the PDP announced the following charges for aspirants:

  • Senate: Expression of Interest – ₦500,000; Nomination – ₦3,000,000 (Total: ₦3.5 million)
  • House of Representatives: ₦500,000 + ₦2,000,000 (Total: ₦2.5 million)
  • State House of Assembly: ₦400,000 + ₦500,000 (Total: ₦600,000)

The party also noted that female aspirants and Persons Living With Disabilities (PLWD) are only required to pay for Expression of Interest forms. Additionally, youths under the age of 40 are entitled to a 50% discount on nomination forms.

Delegate form prices were listed as:

  • Ad-hoc Delegate: ₦5,000
  • National Delegate: ₦50,000

The PDP urged interested aspirants and party stakeholders to contact the Directorate of Organization and Mobilization at the National Secretariat, Wadata Plaza, Abuja, for more details on form purchases and other related inquiries.
