The Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of former Nigerian High Commissioner to Zambia, Amb. Ibironke Adefope, describing her demise as a profound loss to the state and the nation.

In a statement released on Tuesday, Hon. Ogundoyin extolled Adefope’s exemplary life, highlighting her immense contributions to diplomacy, governance, and community service.

“Ambassador Ibironke Adefope was a distinguished stateswoman, a pillar of wisdom, and a beacon of excellence. Her impact on Oyo State and Nigeria at large cannot be overstated. She dedicated her life to the service of our great nation, upholding values of integrity, diligence, and patriotism,”Hon. Ogundoyin stated.

The Speaker emphasized that Adefope’s passing is a significant loss, not just to her family, but to Oyo State and the entire diplomatic community.

He commiserated with Gov. Seyi Makinde, the Oyo State Elders’ Council, and the bereaved Eegunjenmi family of Itutaba, Oje, Ibadan, urging them to find solace in the remarkable legacy she leaves behind.


 

“Mama Adefope embodied the spirit of selfless service and leadership, sustaining the great heritage of her grandfather, Chief Meredith Adisa Akinloye, while making indelible marks of her own. Her wisdom and contributions will be dearly missed,” Ogundoyin added.

The late ambassador, who also served as Nigeria’s High Commissioner to Malawi, passed away at the age of 73, leaving behind a legacy of excellence and unwavering commitment to national development.

Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin prayed for the peaceful repose of Adefope’s soul and strength for the bereaved family in this moment of grief.
