In a landmark gesture to commemorate her one year in office, the Leader of the Legislative Arm of Ibadan North Local Government, Hon. Taiwo Adebola, empowered 140 residents of her constituency, Ward 4, with financial support.

The well-attended event, held within the ward, witnessed enthusiastic participation from party leaders, residents, and political stakeholders, who came out en masse to celebrate what many described as a historic empowerment initiative.

Each beneficiary received ₦10,000 amounting to a total of ₦1.4 million, equivalent to Hon. Taiwo Adebola’s one-year salary as a councilor.

Many hailed the initiative as a testament to her selflessness, compassion, and unwavering commitment to the welfare of her constituents.

Speaking at the event, Hon. Folajimi Oyekunle Don, Deputy Chief of Staff to Governor Seyi Makinde and an indigene of Ward 4, commended Hon. Adebola for what he described as a “record-breaking and people-focused initiative.”


 

He noted that it was the first time such a large-scale empowerment program was being held in the history of the ward.

He lauded Hon. Adebola’s dedication to the development of the ward and prayed for divine strength for her to continue her impactful service.

Also speaking, the Executive Chairman of Ibadan North Local Government, Hon. Oluwaseun Olufade, described the initiative as unprecedented not just in Ward 4 but across the entire local government.

“This empowerment is both symbolic and significant. Giving out ₦1.4 million to your people reflects true leadership, empathy, and generosity,” Hon. Olufade stated.

He further praised Hon. Adebola’s passion for her legislative responsibilities and revealed that she had consistently advocated for the construction of a new borehole in the ward.

In response to her persistence and the pressing needs of the people, the chairman pledged to initiate the borehole project and promised further developmental efforts for the area.

Hon. Olufade personally joined in presenting the cash gifts to beneficiaries and urged them to use the funds wisely.

Additionally, Hon. Olusoji Alade (SOJ), Social Secretary of the prestigious Ọmọ Aj’Orosun Club, donated ₦100,000 to be shared among 10 more individuals as part of the empowerment, along with an extra ₦50,000 to be distributed among other Ward 4 loyalists bringing his total contribution to ₦150,000.

Hon. Julian Nwachukwu, Special Assistant to the Governor and PDP Women Leader in Ibadan North Local Government, also donated ₦40,000 to the women of the ward as her contribution to the empowerment initiative.

Other councillors, including Hon. Seye Adepoju and Hon. Habeeb Alayande of Wards 8 and 10 respectively, supported with ₦25,000 each, totaling ₦50,000.

In her heartfelt remarks, Hon. Taiwo Adebola expressed deep gratitude to everyone who graced the event.

She thanked the Executive Chairman, Hon. Olufade; Hon. Oyekunle Don; party leaders; and all stakeholders for their unwavering support. She also thanked her ward chairman, Prince Tope for his leadership.

“This empowerment is my way of giving back to my people. I want to put smiles on their faces and show them that they matter.

They deserve to be happy,” she said.

She pledged to continue serving the people of Ward 4 with humility, love, and diligence, vowing to always prioritize their welfare and ensure they benefit from the dividends of democracy.

Hon. Taiwo Adebola also extended special appreciation to her twin sister, Agboola Abiola Kehinde, for her constant and unwavering support.
