In a historic feat of grassroots development, the Executive Chairman of Ibadan North Local Government, Hon. Oluwaseun Olufade, on Tuesday commissioned six boreholes across six wards in a single day, a record-breaking milestone in the council’s history.

The ambitious project, aimed at addressing water scarcity and improving the quality of life for residents, began in Ward 1 at Odo-Iye, where Hon. Olufade was warmly received by enthusiastic members of the community.

Speaking at the flag-off, Hon. Michael Ogunsina, the Oyo State PDP Youth Leader and Acting Publicity Secretary, welcomed attendees and commended the residents for their unwavering support for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde.

Also present was Hon. Olufunke Comforter, the member representing Ibadan North Constituency 1 in the Oyo State House of Assembly.


 

She praised the chairman for fulfilling his campaign promise to provide clean water, describing him as a man of integrity.

“We are proud of a chairman who not only made promises but also matched his words with action,” she stated.

In his remarks, Hon. Olufade expressed appreciation to the residents and acknowledged Hon. Yetunde Folarin, the Ward 1 Councillor, for her dedication. Highlighting the urgent need for water in the area, he also donated a generator to ensure uninterrupted access to the borehole.

The commissioning was performed by Hon. Kazim Adeyinka Adeniyi Bibire, former Special Adviser to Governor Makinde on Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters and a Federal House of Representatives hopeful for Ibadan North.

He handed the generator over to the PDP Ward 1 Chairman, Hon. Mumini.

The commissioning train proceeded to Ward 2 at Bola, where residents lauded the chairman for his responsiveness and commitment to development.

Hon. Temitope Olasemo, the Ward Councillor, was recognized for his contributions.

Hon. Olufunke Comforter performed the commissioning and urged the community to maintain the facility diligently.

At Ago Ilorin in Ward 9 (Mokola), traditional leaders, including Baale Mokola, Chief Muftau Abonde, and Baale Ago Ilorin, offered prayers for the chairman’s continued success.

Hon. Olufade reiterated his dedication to resolving water challenges and donated another generator.

The borehole was commissioned by Hon. Babajide Gabriel, the lawmaker representing Ibadan North Constituency 2.

The fourth stop was in Agbowo, Ward 12 the political base of Hon. Babajide Gabriel. Party elder Baba Eleran Dindin described Hon. Olufade as “a young and vibrant politician” who is redefining grassroots governance.

The chairman acknowledged the residents and Hon. Sulaimon Ajao Moonlight, the ward councillor, for their steadfast support.

He also donated a generator for continuous operation of the borehole.

Hon. Adebayo Babajide Gabriel once again performed the commissioning, applauding the chairman for his proactive leadership.

At The Polytechnic, Ibadan in Ward 11, political base of Hon. Adebowale Falana, Chairman of the Oyo State Youth Development Agency , Dr. Akinola, representing Rector Dr. Taiwo Lasisi, thanked Hon. Olufade for executing such a vital project within the institution. A generating set was also donated.

Hon. Sunday Abiola Shomolu, the ward councillor, was praised for effective representation.

Hon. Babajide Gabriel commissioned the project and encouraged proper maintenance.

The grand finale of the day’s events took place in Ijokodo, Ward 8, the home ward of Hon. Olufade.

Residents celebrated the fulfillment of long-standing promises as the chairman constructed borehole and donated a generating set.

An Islamic cleric thanked the chairman for his inclusive leadership, recalling his donation of a ram during the Eid-al-Kabir festivities.

“Hon. Olufade is not just a leader but a unifier,” the cleric remarked.

The final commissioning was performed by Hon. Babajide Gabriel, who commended the chairman’s commitment and called for continued support for the PDP.

In his closing remarks, Hon. Olufade thanked all stakeholders who contributed to the success of the day, including career officers led by the Head of Local Government Administration, Mr. M.A. Owolabi, community leaders, political leaders, councillors, supervisory councillors, special assistants, party executives, and members.

“This record-breaking commissioning is not just about water , it is a testament to our determination to deliver the dividends of democracy directly to the people,” Hon. Olufade concluded.
