In a reflective and passionate tribute, Hon. Taiwo Lekan Salami, a People’s Democratic Party (PDP) stalwart and federal House of Representatives aspirant for Ibadan North Federal Constituency, has celebrated Governor Seyi Makinde’s six years of governance as a historic milestone that has redefined development and participatory governance in Oyo State.

In his extensive statement, Hon. Taiwo Lekan Salami described the Governor’s tenure as an era marked by fiscal discipline, human capital development, and structural reforms that have improved the quality of life for the people.
He praised the administration’s “people-first” approach and commitment to laying a solid foundation for future prosperity.
“Governor Makinde did not merely occupy office; he delivered.
With bold reforms and practical policies, he has reengineered the engine of governance.
Oyo State is now being referenced as a template for strategic, modern governance,” Taiwo Lekan Salami remarked.
He began by highlighting the revolutionary policies in the education sector, particularly the revival of technical education and the transformation of Emmanuel Alayande College of Education into a university.
According to him, the Governor’s deliberate investments in education have created a pipeline of skilled, knowledgeable youths ready to drive innovation and productivity.
“Our educational sector has received its most ambitious facelift in decades.
From basic to tertiary levels, there is a clear trajectory of growth, innovation, and impact,” he noted.
Hon. Taiwo Lekan Salami also emphasized the administration’s emphasis on economic diversification, with a spotlight on agribusiness.
He noted that initiatives such as the Fasola Agribusiness Industrial Hub and the Eruwa Farm Settlement have brought youth back to the farms and opened new doors for exports and food security.
In infrastructure, the PDP chieftain referenced key projects like the Apata-Akala Expressway, the dualization of the Airport-Ajia Road, and the Ibadan Circular Road as indicative of a leadership thinking beyond its time.
He hailed these projects for not only enhancing intra-state mobility but also positioning Oyo as an investment destination.
He also touched on security and technology, mentioning the Amotekun Corps’ operations and the digitization of governance through the Oyo State Residents Registration Program (OYSRRP) as innovations strengthening both safety and administrative efficiency.
Hon. Taiwo Lekan Salami, who has often championed youth participation, expressed pride in the governor’s deliberate inclusion of young people in governance structures.
“Young people are no longer watching from the sidelines; they are leading, planning, and executing because the Governor believes in their abilities,” he emphasized.
In closing, Hon. Taiwo Lekan Salami offered prayers and expressed deep appreciation to Governor Makinde, whom he described as “a blessing to our generation.”
“Your Excellency, may the Almighty God continue to guide your steps, bless your efforts, and protect your legacy.
Your first six years have redefined leadership; your remaining years will surely consolidate that legacy. Congratulations, sir,” he concluded.
