As Governor Seyi Makinde marks a landmark six years at the helm of Oyo State’s affairs, Former ward 12 Councilor in ibadan North local government and federal House of Representatives hopeful for Ibadan North Federal Constituency, Hon. Matthew Alani Oyeniyi, has commended the Governor’s performance as nothing short of transformational and historically significant.
In a comprehensive and passionate statement issued from his Ibadan North base, Hon. Oyeniyi, lauded Governor Makinde for what he termed “an era of uncommon excellence, radical progress, and sustainable development.”
According to him, Governor Makinde’s leadership style and achievements in the past six years have placed Oyo State on a new pedestal of good governance and accountability.
“These past six years under the leadership of His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde, have been a defining era for the people of Oyo State.
We have witnessed not just change, but a revolution in the way governance is conducted.
He has redefined what it means to serve, with compassion, vision, and results,” Hon. Oyeniyi declared.
He described the Governor as a man of purpose, whose administration is driven by clear priorities and the political will to execute them.
According to Hon. Matthew Oyeniyi, Governor Makinde’s approach to leadership is a departure from the past, where promises were often not matched by action.
“His Excellency came into office with a blueprint that has since been executed with precision.
He did not come to experiment; he came to build. From day one, his policies have reflected a deep understanding of the needs of our people.
From education to healthcare, from road networks to youth empowerment, every sector has felt the touch of transformation,” he added.
Hon. Matthew Alani Oyeniyi noted that one of the most significant strides of the Makinde administration is in the education sector.
He cited the transformation of Emmanuel Alayande College of Education into a degree-awarding university as a bold move aimed at widening access to higher education and empowering the youth population.
The Governor’s free education policy, distribution of textbooks and learning materials, and massive recruitment of qualified teachers were also highlighted as visionary steps to improve learning outcomes across the state.
“Governor Makinde is not just investing in buildings; he is building human capital.
He has ensured that the children of the poor and vulnerable in society are no longer left behind.
The revival of technical education and vocational training has opened new doors of opportunities for our youths,” Hon. Oyeniyi noted.
According to the former Councilor, infrastructure development under the Makinde administration has been strategic and impactful. He referenced key road projects such as the Moniya-Iseyin Road, Airport-Ajia-New Ife Expressway, Apata-Akala Way, and the ongoing Ibadan Circular Road, describing them as the backbone of economic activity and mobility across the state.
“Today, Oyo State is not only accessible, but it is becoming a preferred investment destination.
The ease of movement is translating into economic growth, increased trade, and more opportunities for our people.
Governor Makinde has set the tone for Oyo to be a 21st-century economy,” he said.
Hon. Matthew also spoke about the administration’s promotion of agribusiness as a vehicle for wealth creation.
He praised initiatives such as the Fasola Agribusiness Industrial Hub and the Eruwa Farm Settlement, which are reviving agriculture and turning it into a profitable venture for young people.
“The Governor is changing the narrative around agriculture.
No longer is farming seen as a last resort; it is now a means of empowerment, innovation, and sustainability.
He is building a new generation of agripreneurs,” Oyeniyi added.
Hon. Oyeniyi further commended Governor Makinde’s adoption of digital tools in governance, including the Oyo State Residents Registration Program (OYSRRP), which he described as a critical step towards data-driven governance, improved public service delivery, and enhanced security.
He also hailed the operational effectiveness of the Western Nigeria Security Network (Amotekun Corps) in reducing criminal activities and supplementing conventional security agencies.
“Oyo is safer, smarter, and more secure today than it was six years ago. Amotekun has become a household name in grassroots intelligence and community-based policing.
It is an innovation worth celebrating,” he said.
Hon. Matthew Alani Oyeniyi, who himself is an advocate for youth involvement in politics and governance, applauded the Governor for deliberately creating opportunities for young people to serve in various political and administrative capacities.
“His Excellency believes in the youth. He does not just preach inclusiveness; he practices it.
Many young professionals and technocrats have been appointed to serve in critical sectors, and they are delivering results.
This is how you build leaders for tomorrow,” he stated.
In his concluding remarks, Hon. Matthew Oyeniyi expressed his deep admiration and gratitude to Governor Makinde for restoring the pride of Oyo State and setting an enviable standard for governance in Nigeria.
“As we celebrate your six years of excellent service, I want to thank you for being a blessing to our generation.
You have restored hope to the hopeless, brought dignity to governance, and given us a future to believe in.
May the Almighty continue to guide your path, protect your legacy, and strengthen your administration,” he prayed.
“Your leadership has not only touched lives; it has transformed destinies. As you march forward, may your steps be firm, your vision clearer, and your impact deeper.”
