The spirit of Ibadan was on full display at the Grand Finale of the 2025 Ibadan Cultural Festival, held on Saturday, May 17, at the iconic Obafemi Awolowo Stadium, Oke-Ado, Ibadan.

The annual event organized by the Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII) brought together the city’s indigenous and societal clubs in a spectacular celebration of unity, culture, and heritage.

One of the notable figures associated with this year’s event is Mayegun Sunday Olusegun Babanumi, a member of the Ajorosun Club; one of the prominent member-clubs under the CCII umbrella.

Mayegun Babanumi extended his greetings, emphasizing the significance of showcasing Ibadan’s cultural values on the global stage.

“CCII festival is a powerful reminder that our culture is vibrant, unifying, and worthy of international recognition. Ibadan to the World is more than a vision we must all pursue.”

The stadium was alive with color as indigenous clubs and associations paraded in beautifully coordinated traditional attires, celebrating the uniqueness of Ibadanland.

Songs, dances, and cultural displays filled the air, reflecting the deep-rooted traditions and pride of the Yoruba people.

Mayegun Babanumi, who is also a foremost aspirant for the Ibadan NorthWest/SouthWest Federal House of Representatives seat in 2027, has been a consistent voice advocating for cultural preservation, youth empowerment, and inclusive development.

He commended Oyo State Governor, HE Engr Seyi Makinde and the Olubadan of Ibadanland, HIM Oba Owolabi Olakulehin for their blessings and support to the festival while giving accolades to CCII and the festival committee for the beautiful day.

The 2025 CCII Cultural Festival marks yet another successful chapter in the council’s ongoing efforts to celebrate and promote Ibadan’s identity, with this year’s event standing as a bold testament to the city’s growing global influence.
