
The Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin, has joined the Muslim Ummah in celebrating the Chief Imam of Ibadanland, Sheikh AbdulGaniyy Abubakar Agbotomokere, on the occasion of his 90th birthday.
The Speaker acknowledged the Chief Imam’s remarkable contributions to Islam, community development, and peaceful coexistence.
In his goodwill message, Rt. Hon. Ogundoyin praised the Chief Imam for his decades of unwavering spiritual guidance, describing him as a beacon of wisdom and faith whose teachings have strengthened the religious foundation of Ibadanland and beyond.
“For nine decades, Sheikh Agbotomokere has remained a source of divine wisdom, leadership, and inspiration. His commitment to promoting unity among the Muslim faithful and his tireless efforts in fostering peace and harmony in Oyo State are exemplary. As Baba marks this great milestone, we pray that Almighty Allah grants him continued strength, good health, and abundant blessings,” Ogundoyin prayed .
The Speaker further commended the Chief Imam’s role in mentoring young scholars, guiding them toward deepening their knowledge of Islam and upholding the principles of faith, discipline, and service to humanity.
He noted that Sheikh Agbotomokere’s leadership has played a pivotal role in strengthening religious institutions and ensuring the moral uprightness of society.
Rt. Hon. Ogundoyin also emphasized the importance of honoring elders and religious figures whose selfless contributions have helped shape communities positively.
“The Chief Imam’s lifetime of service reminds us that true leadership is rooted in devotion, humility, and selflessness.”
Rt. Hon. Ogundoyin, alongside other dignitaries, joined family members, Islamic clerics, and faithful from various parts of the country in celebrating the Chief Imam’s long life and impactful service.
The Speaker prayed for divine protection over Sheikh Agbotomokere, reaffirming his respect and appreciation for the Chief Imam’s lifelong dedication to faith and community-building.
