The atmosphere was filled with emotions and accolades on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, as the Executive Chairman of Ibadan North Local Government, Hon. Oluwaseun Olufade, led dignitaries and staff in celebrating the retirement of the Director of Finance, Mrs. Taiwo Babarimisa, describing her as “one of a kind and a wonderful career officer.”

Speaking at the retirement ceremony held in her honour, Hon. Olufade expressed deep appreciation for Mrs. Babarimisa’s outstanding service to the council and Oyo State at large.

He described their working relationship as more than professional, likening it to that of a mother and son.

“It’s a mixed feeling for me today,” he began.

“I am happy that Mrs. Taiwo Babarimisa is celebrating both her birthday and retirement from service, but it is very difficult for me to let her go.

She has been a pillar of support, and our relationship went far beyond the official. She is one of the reasons I’m still standing strong today.”

Hon. Olufade praised the retiring finance director for her commitment, diligence, and responsiveness.

“There were times I would message her in the middle of the night to discuss council matters, and her responses were always prompt.

If I had the power to extend her service, I would have done so—just as I wished I could for our former HLGA, Mr. Akeem Olatunji,” he added.

In a heartfelt conclusion, the chairman said, “She is retiring, but she’s clearly not tired.

I want to thank her for her selfless service to the state, and particularly to Ibadan North Local Government. I remain—and will always be—her wonderful son.”

Also delivering a goodwill message, the Permanent Secretary of the Oyo State Local Government Service Commission, Deacon Timothy Adewale, commended Mrs. Babarimisa for her integrity, devotion, and passion for public service.

“She’s an exceptional career officer who works with the fear of God and love for humanity,” Deacon Adewale said.

Recounting events before her posting to Ibadan North, he said, “Some people tried to discourage me from assigning her here, but I realized it was all out of envy.

I never regretted that decision. She made me proud.”

He also praised her for consistently supporting the Commission beyond the call of duty and appreciated her husband, Pastor Timothy Babarimisa, for his unwavering support.

Deacon Adewale urged other officers to emulate her exemplary character and commitment.

“She has served the government well; may the government also serve her in the years to come,” he prayed.

He further thanked the Executive Chairman, Hon. Oluwaseun Olufade, for always prioritizing staff welfare, describing him as a vibrant and dynamic leader, and referring to Ibadan North Local Government as the number one council in Oyo State.

Dignitaries at the event included:
Pastor Timothy Babarimisa (her husband); Dr. Kehinde Babarimisa (her twin brother); Hon. Akeem Ayoade, Vice Chairman of Ibadan North Local Government; Alhaji Tajudeen Olanrewaju, Head of Local Government Administration (HLGA); Hon. Taiwo Adebola, Leader of the Legislative Council; Hon.
