The death of former Governor of Oyo State, Pa Victor Omololu Olunloyo, has continued to draw tributes from political leaders and stakeholders across the state.

Among those who have expressed deep sorrow is Hon. Taiwo Lekan Salami, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ibadan North Local Government and a Federal House of Representatives hopeful for Ibadan North Federal Constituency.

Hon. Taiwo Lekan Salami described the passing of Pa Olunloyo as a monumental loss, not only to Oyo State but to the entire Yoruba nation.

He emphasized the former governor’s enduring impact on governance, public service, and intellectual leadership.

In a statement made available to the press, Hon. Taiwo Lelan Salami reflected on the personal connection between his family and the Olunloyos, stating that the relationship between the two families spans several decades and is deeply rooted in their shared Ibadan heritage.

“My late father, Chief Lekan Salami, played a pivotal role in the political journey of Pa Victor Omololu Olunloyo, especially during his emergence as Governor of Oyo State under the platform of the National Party of Nigeria (NPN),” Salami revealed.

He continued, “Our families—the Salamis and the Olunloyos—share a long-standing relationship built on mutual respect, loyalty, and a common dream for a better Ibadan and Oyo State.

This loss is not just political; it is deeply personal to us.”

Hon. Taiwo Lekan. Salami extended his condolences to the Olunloyo family, the government of Oyo State, and the people of the state, urging everyone to find strength in the legacy left behind by the late statesman.

“Pa Olunloyo was a symbol of brilliance, a trailblazer, and a committed leader whose contributions to the socio-political development of our state will never be forgotten.

May Almighty God grant his soul eternal rest and comfort all of us he left behind,” he concluded.

The passing of Pa Olunloyo comes just days after the death of another political heavyweight, Chief Yekini Adeojo, further deepening the sense of mourning in Oyo State.
