In a proactive move to mitigate the impact of the upcoming rainy season, the Executive Chairman of Akinyele Local Government, Hon Akinwole Akinleye, has commenced preparations by inspecting flood-prone and other vulnerable areas across the Local Government.
This initiative aims to identify and address critical areas susceptible to flooding and erosion, ensuring that residents and infrastructure are adequately protected.
During the inspection tour, the Chairman, accompanied by the Akinyele Local Government Chief of Staff, Hon Aderinwale Abideen Adeyemi, The PDP State Financial Secretary, Hon Dayo Opatokun, The Akinyele PDP Chairman of Ward Chairmen, Hon Oyeniran Olukunle, Party Stalwarts,relevant government officials, environmental experts, and community leaders, visited key locations identified as vulnerable to waterlogging and erosion.
Speaking during the assessment, he reiterated his administration’s commitment to prioritizing environmental sustainability and safety, stressing that adequate drainage systems and road maintenance will be undertaken to prevent flooding disasters.
Commissioning of Odo-Oba/Oke-Oba Road Project
As part of ongoing infrastructural development within the local government, the Chairman also officially commissioned the Odo-Oba/Oke-Oba road project.
The road, which has now been rehabilitated to ease transportation challenges, enhance economic activities, and improve the overall standard of living for residents.
Addressing community members at the commissioning ceremony, the Executive Chairman noted that the project aligns with his administration’s strategic plan to improve road networks, facilitate seamless movement of goods and services, and ensure the safety of road users.
He also urged residents to take ownership of public infrastructure and avoid practices that could lead to road deterioration, such as indiscriminate waste disposal in drainage channels.
The series of activities, including the inspection of vulnerable areas and road commissioning, reflects the administration’s unwavering dedication to progress and the well-being of Akinyele residents.
As preparations for the rainy season continue, residents are encouraged to support government initiatives by maintaining a clean environment and adhering to safety measures that will mitigate the risks of flooding.
