Hon. Adebowale Adebayo Falana, the Chairman of the Oyo State Agency for Youth Development, has applauded the rapt attention of the participants of the ongoing entrepreneurship training at Planet 3R for their enthusiasm and dedication to the programme.

It could be recalled that on February 5th, 2025, the agency made a bold step in unveiling a groundbreaking partnership with Planet 3R to revolutionize Youth empowerment to complement the efforts of His Excellency Engr Seyi Makinde FNSE aims to unleash the potentials of Oyo State youth by providing them with cutting edge skills.in entrepreneurial training and mentorship opportunities.

Prince Adebowale made the remarks in a statement released and made available to newsmen by the head of the Media Unit to the Chairman Opeyemi Rasheed, during an inspection tour to the training centers anchored by the CEO and his team, Adejoke Lasisi. He interacts with the participants and assesses the progress of the training as well as what the participants have learned so far.

The training is done in partnership with the Oyo State Agency for Youth Development, sponsored by the United Kingdom Government E.Y., the Foreign and Commonwealth Development Office (FCDO), and Unilever, equipped to train 1,050 women and youth in eco-friendly sustainable products.

According to the chairman, “Today we inspected the ongoing youth empowerment training for the youth of Oyo State in partnership with Planet 3R; each participant was drawn across the local government areas of the State, with aims of turning waste to wealth and becoming self-reliant.

“The training is meant/designed for people or young individuals between 18-45 years of age. This is the only opportunity to be more Creative, innovative, industrious, and productive”.

The Planet 3R initiative focuses on the employment of unemployed women and youth by training them on effective ways to earn income from recycling plastic and textile waste and weaving plastic into beautiful bespoke and avant-garden products for the ant savvy. The initiative engages in grassroots and creates an awareness program geared towards achieving a clean environment.

However, during the inspection, we were exposed to the manual given to each participant which entails; a curriculum outline, introduction to weaving and recycling, business skills, product optimization, business planning, advanced technique, core weaving skills, basic product creation, process of conversion, sourcing for materials, weaving and cleaning the waste, shredding of waste into yams, winding threads for warping, setting bobbins and warping, beaming, drafting and denting, weaving/recycling terminology as well as tools and equipment for making products.

Hon. Adebowale further encouraged the participants to take full advantage of the opportunity and utilize the skills they acquired to create jobs and wealth for themselves and others.

On finality, the participants praised the Oyo State Government and trainer saying the facilities at Planet 3R were effective and conducive to learning.
