In a bold move to strengthen community-led actions against violence, Paths to Good Governance International (PGIN), through its Women Peace and Security Directorate, has successfully implemented its project titled “Accelerate Action for Inclusion of Women in Community-Led Actions Against Violence.”

The initiative, which took place in Ido Local Government, underscored the vital role of women in fostering peace and nonviolence within communities.

As part of its engagement strategy, the PGIN team paid a courtesy visit to key stakeholders, including the Community Chief and the Iyaloja (Market Women Leader), to solicit their support for increased female participation in governance and conflict resolution.

A major highlight of the project was a sensitization campaign at the local market, where traders and community members were educated on the importance of gender equity in leadership, the need for women’s active involvement in decision-making, and the dangers of harmful social practices that infringe on the rights of women and girls.

Speaking on the initiative, PGIN reaffirmed its commitment to creating violence-free communities by promoting inclusion, peace, and sustainable community development.

With efforts like this, the organization continues to pave the way for a more just and equitable society where women are empowered to lead and contribute meaningfully to peacebuilding efforts.
