Governor Seyi Makinde hosted a delegation of 72 journalists from various Nigerian media outlets last year, all members of the Nigerian Guild of Editors (NGE).

This visit, initiated by the governor, aimed to showcase Oyo State’s impressive array of infrastructural projects, demonstrating the administration’s commitment to transparency and development.

According to reports, Deputy President of NGE, Mrs. Husseina Akila commended Governor Seyi Makinde for fostering an inclusive administration, notably through his appointment of women to strategic roles..

Governor Seyi Makinde took journalists on a tour of Oyo State’s infrastructure projects, including an 11MW power plant, a 110km circular road, and a 65km highway. Notably, the governor challenged the journalists to find any potholes on the Ibadan-Iseyin road, offering a $1,000 reward, but none were found.

At Fashola farm, journalists embarked on a 2km walk, witnessing the transformative impact of effective governance on agribusiness investments. The farm, initially established by Chief Obafemi Awolowo, is being revitalized under Governor Seyi Makinde’s leadership, aiming to restore its former glory and unlock its vast potential.

During the visit to Ibadan, the capital city of Oyo State, several prominent journalists were in attendance, including Dr. Reuben Abati, a renowned On-Air-Personality with AriseTV and newspaper columnist.

Reuben Abati, a renowned journalist and public intellectual, publicly praised Governor Seyi Makinde’s outstanding performance, expressing his deep admiration for the governor’s impressive achievements. Eze Anaba, President of the Nigerian Guild of Editors, praised Governor Makinde’s administration as a shining example for other state governors to follow, urging the people of Oyo State to sustain their support for the governor’s initiatives.

Anaba also gave his remark on Makinde’s extensive reading habits, noting their shared interest in several books.
