In recognition of his outstanding contributions to community development and leadership, the Executive Chairman of Lagelu Local Government, Hon. Mudashiru Kamorudeen, has been honored with the prestigious Community Development Leadership Champion of the Year award by the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ).
The award, presented during the pacesetters 2024 annual lecture series held at NUJ press center- Iyaganku, celebrates Hon. Kamorudeen’s transformative work in the Lagelu Local Government area, including groundbreaking initiatives in infrastructure, security, education, and social welfare. Under his leadership, the local government has experienced significant progress in key sectors, earning widespread commendation from both residents and political observers.
In his address to press, Hon. Kamorudeen expressed deep gratitude to the Nigeria Union of Journalist for recognizing his works of service to the people. He dedicated the award to the Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, whose visionary leadership, he noted, has been instrumental in shaping the policies that drive community-focused governance in the state.
“I humbly dedicate this award to our leader and governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, whose unwavering commitment to the development of Oyo State continues to inspire us all. His leadership has paved the way for the advancements we are making in Lagelu,” Hon. Kamorudeen stated.
The chairman also extended the award’s dedication to Balogun Seye Famojuro and Elder Babatunde Tijani (Double-T) for their guidance and unending support towards his leadership journey.
“Secondly, I dedicate this award to my mentor— my master, Balogun Joseph Adeseye Famojuro, and to my father, Elder Babatunde Tijani, whose wisdom, guidance, and belief in the power of service have been a pillar of strength for me. The influence from these two remarkable personalities have shaped my approach to leadership, and for that, I am truly grateful”, he remarked.
The recognition comes on the heels of numerous developmental strides Hon. Kamorudeen has spearheaded, including the construction of new roads, provision of solar-powered streetlights for schools, installation of boreholes, and the establishment of security frameworks to safeguard local residents. His administration’s ongoing efforts to uplift the livelihoods of the people of Lagelu through empowerment programs and infrastructural projects were highlighted as key factors in his selection for the award.
The Community Development Leadership Champion of the Year award further cements Hon. Kamorudeen’s reputation as a leader dedicated to grassroots transformation and the advancement of his community, positioning Lagelu Local Government as a model of progress in Oyo State.
