The Wife of the Chairman of Atiba Local Government, Mrs Ashiat Oluwakemi Adetunji, has led campaign against Gender Based Violence (GBV) in ATIBA Local Government.
The First Lady who led the team of sensitizers round Atiba Local Government Area, stressed the need to eschew violence in all its ratification especially against the womenfolk.
She stated that it’s criminal and anti-social to engage in activities that dishonor women like rape, sexual harassment, child and forced marriage as well as human trafficking.
Mrs Adetunji emphasized the need for parents to take good care of their children and avoid all forms of child abuse as doing these will collectively ensure peaceful society that we all crave for.
She stated that the wife of the Executive Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Tamunominini Makinde is passionate about the total welfare of the people of Oyo State which according to her, informed Her Excellency to take the issue of Gender Based Violence serious.
The rally took Mrs Adetunji to Ajegunle Market, Mechanic workshops, major junctions and other strategic locations where she delivered the messages of Her Excellency, Engr. (Mrs) Makinde to people in all these places with emphasis on maintaining peace, good parenting and eschewing violence.
Women following Mrs Adetunji carried various placards such as: Say no to RAPE; Women deserves Respect; Stop female GENITAL mutilation/circumcision; Stop child and forced marriage, Let’s join hands against human trafficking among others.
