In a momentous ceremony brimming with pride and camaraderie— and marked by women’s grace and significance on Thursday, the Chairperson of Lagelu local government, Mrs. Taiwo Abibat Mudashiru was invested as matron of the Nigerian women council in the local government area.

The Nigerian Women Council is an organization committed to the advancement of women’s rights, education, health, and economic opportunities.

It has long been a pillar of advocacy, with a clear mission to empower women, foster gender equality, and create spaces where women can thrive as leaders, entrepreneurs, and change-makers.

In her own words, the Lagelu Chairperson, Taiwo Abibat described the occasion as “the honor of a lifetime,” a testament to the weight of responsibility she now carries in advocating for women’s rights and empowerment within the local and national context.

“It is the honor of a lifetime to serve as matron of the Nigerian Women Council, Lagelu Chapter, and I must say, I am deeply humbled by this opportunity to serve our women”, she stated.

During the ceremony, members of the Council expressed immense pride in their collaboration with the Kamoru local administration, affirming the mutual commitment to the shared goal of uplifting women and creating a more just and equitable society for all.

As the Matron, Taiwo Abibat Mudashiru now carries the mantle of guiding and nurturing the next generation of women leaders, amplifying their voices, and ensuring that the efforts of the Nigerian Women Council continue to resonate across every facet of life in the region.

In her closing remarks, Chairperson Taiwo Abibat Mudashiru spoke with humility and determination, recognizing the collective strength of all women in Lagelu, and emphasizing that the new phase of her leadership on women matters would not just be about her personal achievements, but about the empowerment of every woman in the community.

“This investiture is not just an honor,” she said, “it is a call to action… We are here to stand, to rise, and to make sure that every woman, everywhere, has the opportunity to live her full potential”, she stated.
