The Executive Chairman of Ibadan North Local Government, Hon. Oluwaseun Olufade, has reiterated his dedication to fulfilling his campaign promises.

This assurance was made yesterday, during a program organized by the National Orientation Agency (NOA) at the Ibadan North Local Government Council Secretariat.

The event, themed “National Identity Project,” aims to foster national unity and development by engaging citizens with accurate and timely information.

The NOA’s mission is to promote harmony and progress through public education and advocacy.

Major stakeholders attended the program, including community leaders, market leaders, students, health institutions, religious leaders, youth forums, and security agencies.

The gathering provided an opportunity for stakeholders to interact with Hon. Olufade and inquire about his achievements since taking office.

In his address, Hon. Olufade highlighted several key accomplishments, emphasizing his commitment to engaging with the electorate and addressing their needs.

He thanked the NOA for organizing the event and encouraged them to continue facilitating such interactions between the public and their leaders.

Key Achievements Highlighted by Hon. Oluwaseun Olufade:

  1. Security: Regular security meetings are held, and solar street lights have been installed in all 12 wards to enhance nighttime security.
  2. Education: Inspections of primary schools and distribution of sanitary pads to secondary school girls on International Day for the Girl Child.
  3. Support for NYSC Members: Prompt payment of monthly allowances and a donation of ₦1 million for the construction of an auditorium hall at the Iseyin orientation camp.
  4. Traffic Decongestion: Inspections to curb indiscriminate parking and collaboration with the Park Management System to ensure free movement on roads.
  5. Welfare of Local Government Staff: Foundation laid for a new NULGE office, promising completion within a year.
  6. Health Initiatives: Sponsorship of 150 individuals for health insurance under the Oyo State Health Insurance Agency (OYSHIA), providing them with free treatment for a year.
  7. Environmental Sanitation: Regular community sensitization on maintaining a clean environment and treating water wells to ensure safe drinking water. Regular sanitation efforts are in place to ensure a healthy living space for all residents.
  8. Youth Engagement: Regular discussions with youth to understand their needs and support them. These engagements have been fruitful, fostering a positive relationship between the youth and the local government.
  9. Sports Development: Football competitions to discover and nurture local talent. These events have provided a platform for scouting and developing local talents, contributing to the overall development of sports in the area.
  10. Digitalization: The local government council is now fully internet-connected, with free WiFi available across the council area. This digitalization effort ensures that residents can access the internet from any corner of the council, promoting connectivity and access to information.
  11. Agriculture: MoU signed with the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) and donation of 10 acres of land to women farmers in Ibadan North Local Government to boost agricultural production. This partnership aims to enhance agricultural practices and ensure food security for our residents.
  12. Community Service: Donations to support victims of incidents and the commissioning of ultramodern lock-up shops in Bodija Market. Our administration is deeply committed to community service, including support for the victims of the Gbaremu fire incident, the renovation of Oluwo Police Station, and providing foodstuff palliatives to widows.

In collaboration with Oyo State Labour Intensive Public Works (LIPW), we empowered residents with work and financial benefits.

In her speech, Mrs. Ademola Adelaja, representing the Director General of the NOA, praised Hon. Olufade for his achievements and urged him to continue impacting the community positively.

Pupils from IMG Primary School in Ibadan North demonstrated the role of the NOA through a cultural display, effectively conveying the agency’s message.

Stakeholders, including community leaders, youth representatives, and market leaders, expressed their appreciation for Hon. Olufade’s efforts and made additional demands for improvements in various sectors.

Representatives of the community leaders further demanded that the councilors representing various wards be active and maintain good relationships with people in their wards, which would facilitate the delivery of democratic dividends to all corners of the local government.

They also requested improvements in the state of primary health care and primary schools in the area.

The Red Cross representative lauded the chairman for his responsiveness to urgent calls and requested an office within the local government council.

Youth representatives also praised the chairman and requested the creation of an office for the youth council within the local government to facilitate official functions.

Babaloja of Bodija Market, Alhaji S.A. Jimoh, described the chairman as a simple, gentle, intelligent, and accessible public office holder who has brought peace to Ibadan North.

He also requested the construction of Bodija Market roads, emphasizing their importance to market users and Nigerians.

The Iyaloja of Ibadan North praised the chairman for his governance and his positive impact on market women, urging him to continue his efforts.

In response to the demands, Hon. Olufade assured that their requests are achievable and reaffirmed his commitment to making a meaningful impact in the lives of the people.

He introduced the councilors from each ward, ensuring everyone knows their representatives.

The event concluded with prayers from the Chief Imam of Ibadan North Local Government, Alhaji Busari, for Hon. Olufade’s continued wisdom and success in driving Ibadan North Local Government towards prosperity.

Taiwo Adebola, other councilors, Chief of Staff Hamdy Mustapha, Head of Local Government Administration Mr. Akeem Olatunji, Director of Education and Social Services Alhaja Kudirat Nojimudeen, supervisory councilors, special assistants, Ekefa Balogun of Ibadan Land Oloye Amusa Eleruwere, Babaloja Bodija Alhaji S.A. Jimoh, Iyaloja Ibadan North, chairman of the Foodstuff Association Bodija, community leaders, religious leaders and the National Youth Council.
